My invention relates to a ash light and has for an object to provide a iiash light in which the switch is not connected to ground.
A further object of the invention is to provide a ash light in which the batteries are separated and connected by wiring through a switch.
Another object of the invention is to provide a ash light in which the lamp bulb is seated in the ground and directly upon a battery pole.
A still further object of this invention is to provide a flash light which will eliminate practically all insulation, snorting through corrosion, dampness, wearing or breaking of circuit members caused by batteries; thereby adding longer life and at far less expense than present day flash lights.
Other features and advantages will become more readily apparent from the following description and the accompanying illustrative drawings in which:
Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional elevation of my flash light,
Figure 2 is a diagrammatic view of the wiring of the device,
Figure 3 is a detail elevation of a circuit closing member, and
Figure 4 is a section on line --ll thereof.
In the above drawings as well as in the specication to follow, the same characters of reference indicate the same parts throughout.
While one embodiment of my invention is illustrated in the above referred to drawings, it is to be understood that they are merely for the purpose of illustration and that various changes in construction may be resorted to in the course of manufacture in order that the invention may be utilized to the best advantage according to circumstances `which may arise, without in any way departing from the spirit and intention of my device, which is to be limited only in accordance with the appended claims. And while I have stated the primary field of utility of my invention it remains obvious that it may be employed in any other capacity wherein it may be found applicable.
In the drawings lll, indicates my invention which comprises a casing H, formed in two sections l2 and i3, screw-threaded together centrally as at lll. Mounted within the casing are a pair of flashlight batteries it and it, being spaced apart by a non-conductor disk i6, on either side of which is provided conductors Il and i8, respectively, which contact the positive and negative ends of the batteries. To the members I1 'and I8, lare conductor wires i9 and it, which extend to an aperture 2|, in the wall I3, over which a switch member 22, is slidable, whereby said wires may be connected or disconnected as desired. rI'he conductor zal, of the lamp 25, is mounted in the head 26, in such a manner as to directly contact the positive pole 2l, of the battery I5. The lower end 28, of the casing member l2, is permanently closed and has seated therein a coiled spring 29, which bears upon the negative end 32, of the battery lli, and the casing wall 3l.
From the foregoing it will be seen that I have provided a flashlight which requires no insulation and no internally moving contact members which may become broken, distorted or otherwise out of commission. The casing H, acts as a ground and the lamp 25, is grounded in its support (not shown). Thus 'the only possible closing of the electric circuit is through the switch 22.
It is thought that persons skilled in the art to which the invention relates will be able to obtain a clear understanding of the invention after considering the description in connection with the drawings. Therefore, a more lengthy description is regarded as unnecessary.
Changes in shape, size and rearrangement of details and parts such as come within the purview of the invention claimed may be resorted to, in actual practice, if desired.
Having now prescribed my .invention that which I claim as new and desire to procure by Letters Patent is:
1. A flashlight comprising a pair of sections terminally connected to form a tubular casing, a battery in each section, said batteries being axially alined with their adjacent poles spaced apart and disposed at the terminal connection of the sections, a lamp carried by one section in direct electrical Contact with the pole of one battery, a ground conductor connecting the other pole of the other v'cattery and said lamp,y a conductor extending between and connecting the adjacent poles of said batteries and a switch interposed in said last-mentioned conductor and mounted exteriorly of said casing for controlling the circuit through said last mentioned conductor.
2. The combination of claim 1 `wherein said switch is mounted on that section which carries the lamp.
3. The combination of claim 1 wherein the adjacent poles are spaced apart by an insulating disk having terminals on opposite sides thereof, said terminals engaging said last mentioned conductor and said adjacent poles.
