Abstract

291,704. Row, W. Jan. 9, 1928. Two-part couplings combined with resistances.-In a switch for dimming theatre lamps a base-panel 2 supports a movable contact-arm 5, stationary switch-contacts 3, and resistance-elements 11 which are fitted so as to be easily detachable and replaceable. Each element consists of a helically grooved insulating tube 18 with the resistance wire wound in the groove. Several modifications of the resistance terminal couplings are described. Plain plug- and-socket couplings with the sockets mounted in the panel and integrally attached to screw terminal shanks are shown in Fig. 2. Plugs fitting into positioning sockets 10 and centrally tapped to receive screwed-in terminal shanks 24 are shown in Fig. 3. Both the above kinds of couplings may be mounted in pairs, one on each side of the panel, with a common terminal shank 24, as shown in Fig. 4. In further modifications the resistance element carries the socket which fits over a plain plug, or is tapped to'receive a projecting screwed shank.
