The light b ulb socket is provided with a spring cup 56 having a telescopic connection with the cylindrical end portion l57 of the reilector 58. This telescopic arrangement of the members 56 and 57 provides a spring l5 pocket for a coilspring 59. The springs 59 and 54 are normally compressed when thev lamp socket and the reflector are in their normal operative position. The reiiector, in its normal position, bears 4at its outer edge -against a fiber washer 60 on the inner face ofthe lens 61 and is forced inwardly against the Spring 59 by threadin the lens cap 62 upon the threaded end of t ie head 40.
^ The handle 63 is secured to the battery container and is so arranged that the thumb -stud 46 may be actuated bythe thumb of the hand in which the lamp is held.
In opration, the batteries 11 and 12 are container 10. The container is then secured to the switch casing 17, inwhichposition the spring contacts 30--32 enga e the terminal contacts 27, 28 of the batteries. When the switch 20 is in the positionl shown in Fig. 3, theelectric current flows from battery 12 through spring contact 30, wire 29, Contact plug 24, switch arm 2 0, wire 36, through snap switch 37, wire 38 and rod 39 to the contact of vthe light' bulb socket 55.- The electric current after passing through the electric-l light bulb passes through the light socket, the cas- 10, and springs 15 to the zinc-casing of A lthe battery 12.
When it is' desired to use the battery 11 in l 554 stead of the battery 12, thev arm- 23,l on the outside df the casing is pressed downwardly. We claim:
1. Ina portable electric lamp the combination with a light producingeleinent having a grounded connection, of a body casing, a plurality of sources of electric energyI in said casing, a closure for said casing, a par-'- tition of insulating material positioned across said closure member and means for selecf tively connecting any one of said sources of electric energy with the light producing -members carried by said insulating partition and engaging a Acontact of each of said sources, a switchboard having a plurality of means, comprising spring pressed contact contact plugs thereon, electric conductors connecting said plugs with4 said spring contacts, a switch'for selectively engaging any one of said contact plugs, and an electric conductor leading from the switch to said light .producingr means.
2. In a portable electric lamp'the combination with a light producing element having a grounded connection, of a body casing, a secltional switch 'casingremovablyattached .to the body casing, a plurality of sources of electric energy supported in saidA body casing, and
