In order to adjust the length of brace 21 and brace 29 arranged in criss-cross relation thereto, turnbuckles 32 are provided. It will be apparent that the adjustment of the braces would be such as to rigidly support the half sections I4 and I5 of the ironing board in close abutting end to end relation as shown in Figure 1.

There is thus provided a folding, portable ironing board assembly of light weight and neat appearance which may be conveniently and unobtrusively transported from place to place and which is brought to its fully operative condition by simply unfolding the opposite halves `of the assembly about the connecting hinge.

The invention may be embodied in other spe-y cic forms without departing from the spirit or essential characteristics thereof. The present embodiments are, therefore, to be considered in all respects as illustrative and not restrictive, the.
