COOKING STOVE OR RANGE.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 250,210, dated November 29, 1881.
Application filed October 4, 1881. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, Looms L. OULVER, of the city of St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Cooking Stoves and Ranges, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
My invention relates to the manner of securing the cover of the range or stove in place; and my improvement consists in securing to the sides and back of the upper portion of the range or stove, or to the top rim of the same, or to both, as shown, suitable brackets, preferably angle-irons, to engage beneath lugs and loops'on the under side of the stove-cover, as more fully set forth hereinafter.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a bottom perspective view of the stove or range top or cover. Fig. 2 is a top perspective view of a range or stove, showing the brackets. Fig. 3 is a horizontal detail section of same.
A A are the sides of the range or stove. B is the hack, and O the front, of same. D is the top rim or frame, rabbeted, as usual.
E are brackets, preferably consisting of angle-irons, secured, preferably, as shown, both to the upper portion of the sides and back of the range and to the rim D. In this case the brackets also hold the rim in place but the rim may be secured in place by any other suitable means, and the brackets attached either to the sides and back or to the rim.
The top of the stove or range is made in two place on the stove, engages under the lip f of 5 the memberF, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3. Thus it will be seen that the back part of the top will be prevented from moving forward in a horizontal plane by the front part of the cover, and that the whole will be consequently held securely in place. The top is not only secured to the rim of the frame when in place, but through the means of the an gle-irons E (shown) is also secured to the body of the stove or range.
Having thus described my invention, the following is whatI claim as new therein, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, viz:
In a range or stove, the combination of the angle-irons or brackets E, secured substantially as described, and the top or cover oonsisting ofmember F, having loopsfand lugs f on the under side thereof, and the member F, securing the other member in position, as set forth.
