Description

March 14, 1950 A. G. BURNETT SELECTIVE SECTIONAL MONEY BAG Filed March 11, 1946 FIG INVENTOR. flARO/V G BURNETT ATTORNEY Patented Mar. 14, 1950 UNI TED PATENT OFFICE 72,500,341 7 SELECTWE QT AL MQNEX B G AaronG.'Burnett, Coronado, Calif. enn ice iae Me qh. L 6;, r al N -l 6 3 8 t th arrangement of a h r ster d awer at the objects of my invention are:
First, to provide a sectional money bag of this class in which various denominations of coins are individually separate from other denominations whereby time is saved in supplying a cash register with money previously drawn therefrom at the end of the foregoing day.
Second, to provide a sectional money bag of this class having separate pockets for various coins so that the money taken from a cash register drawer is readily maintained in segregated condition whereby coins of various denominations do not become mixed and require separation prior to replacement in the cash register.
Third, to provide a sectional money bag of this class having several pockets from which individual denominations of coins may be poured directly into corresponding drawers the cash register greatly facilitating the supply of coins to the individual compartments of the cash register.
Fourth, to provide a sectional money bag of this class in which all of the pockets except one may be held in closed position by one hand of the operator while dumping a certain denomination of coins from one pocket thereof. a
Fifth, to provide a sectional money bag of this class having a central bag portion in which ourrency and other money may be positioned and also having surrounding coin pockets all of which may be closed by a common lace closure, and
Sixth, to provide a sectional money bag of this class which is very simple and economical of construction, efficient in operation and which will not readily deteriorate or get out of order.
With these and other objects in view as will appear hereinafter my invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangements of parts and portions as will be hereinafter described in detail and particularly set forth in the appended claim.
Reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the characters of reference thereon forming a part of this application in which: Figure 1 is a perspective view of my sectional money bag; Figure 2 is a plan sectional view taken from the line 22 of Figure 1; Figure 3 is a fragmentary sectional view taken from the line 3-3 of Figure 1 and Figure 4 is a fragmentary View of the blank forming the main bag member of my sectional money bag.
Similar characters of reference refer to similar 56 1 Claim. (01. -1)
parts and portions throughout the. several views of the drawings.
The main bag member I, pocket members 2, 3, 4 and 5, eyelets 6 and the lace 7 constitute the principal parts and money bag.
The of the drawings is preferably made of a single piece of material substantially in the form of'a cross, when laid out in flat position and this main has memb I is pre rab mad i flexible terila-l such as fabricor the like. The central por-l ti-on In of the main bra mfimber I forms, the bot,-.
tom for my sectionalmoney bag and the side Figure 4 of the drawings portions l b as shown in are folded on the seam lines lc whereby the op,- posite edges I d of the side portions lb are sewed together at the seam lines le all as shown best in Figure 4; of the drawings. It will be noted that theseam line to as shownin Figure Softhedrawings forms the seam for connection of thelower ends 2a of the pocket members 2, 3', 4' and. 5, with the main bag member I'. It will be noted, 2, 3, d -and 5 are secured] that the pocket members at their opposite side edges between the edge l portions l ith ma n bag-member t by the seam portions Ie as shown best in Figure 2 of the drawings. Figure 2 of the drawings, the corner of the main bag I adjacent to which thepocket and 5 are members 4 and 5 are positioned and held by the seam le. This construction is used at all four corners of the money bag and provides a very simple and strong sectional money bag. It will be noted that the lower end portions 2a of the pocket members 2, 3, 4 and 5 as shown in Figure 3 of the drawings are first connected to the main bag member I at the seam portions 1c before the seam portions edges of the pocket members therebetween. The
thereof and these eyelets 6 form a support for the lace 1 which passes therethrough as shown in Figure 1 of the drawings providing a closure means for the upper end of the sectional money bag for the prevention of loss at the open ends of the pocket members as well as the centrally disposed main bag member I. It will be noted that each of the pocket members outside the main bag member I provides a compartment for coins. Each individual pocket member at,
portions of my sectional main bag member I as shown in Figure 4' As shown in le are sewed together retaining opposite its outer side may be labeled corresponding to the particular denomination of coin to be placed therein, for example, one pocket member may be labeled 54?, another 10, another 25 and the fourth may be labeled 50. If desired the labels may be placed on the main bag member I at the upper ends of the pocket members 2, 3, 4 and 5. Thus the pocket members 2, 3, 4 and 5 at the outer side of the main bag l'are particularly adapted for use in containing various denominations of coins while the main bag member I may be used for currency, checks and other papers if desired.
The operation of my sectional money substantially as follows:
bag is When transferring money from a cash register to my sectional money bag, the coins are placed in the pocketmembers 2,
3, 4 and 5 in the following manner, the five cent pieces from one compartment of the cash register are placed in one of the pocket members while the ten cent pieces may be placed in another of the pocket members, the twenty-five cent pieces may be placed in the third pocket member, and fifty cent pieces may be placed in the fourth pocket member. All other moneys are then placed in the main bag member I and the lace 7 is drawn through the eyelets 6 until all of the pocket members together with the main bag member I are held tightly closed near their upper ends. When replacing the money in the cash register on the following day, the top Of the money bag is opened by releasing the lace 1 and all of the pocket members and the main bag member I with the exception of one pocket member may be held closed while pouring a certain denomination of coin out of said pocket member into the corresponding compartment in the cash register. This operation may be repeated until each of the pocket members is exhausted of coins whereby the individual compartments of the cash register arequickly supplied with coins of the proper denominations. The currency may be removed from the main bag member i as desired and placed in proper compartments in the cash register.
Though I have shown and described a particular combination, construction and arrangement of parts and portions, I do not wish to be Number limited to the particular construction, combination and arrangement but desire to include in the scope of my invention the construction, combination and arrangement substantially as set forth in the appended claim.
Having thus described claim as new and desire Patent is:
In a sectional money bag of the class described, the combination of a main bag member having a bottom portion, a plurality of side portions integral with said bottom portion, a plurality of pocket members secured thereto around the bottom portion of said main bag member, the side edge portions of said pocket members being connected to the side edge portions of the side portions of said main bag member at the normally outer side of each of said side portions of said main bag member, opposite sides of said pocket members being contiguous with each other and interposed between adjacent edges of said side portions of said main bag thereof, a lacing member surrounding said pocket members for closing said main bag member and said pocket members, the normally open ends of said pocket members end of said main bag member when in upright position.
