Description
C. J. EDUARD feb. 2s, 195o TOILET KIT Filed Jan. 4, 1946 Mam/MQW Patentec Feb. 28, 1950 UNITED` STATES PATENT OFFICE i 'TOILET KIT Carl J. Eduard, Vest Springfield, Mass'. Application January 4, 1946, serial No. 639,069
This invention relates to improvements in toilet kits and the like.
The principal objects of the invention are directed to a toilet kit having novel features of construction and arrangement providing a compact and neat device which makes various toilet articles readily accessible.
With the foregoing and various other novel features and advantages and other objects of my invention as will become more apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more particularly pointed out in the claim hereunto annexed and more fully described and referred to in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein:
Fig. l is a plan view of a toilet kit embodying the novel features of the invention with the closure therefor omitted;
Fig. 2 is a sectional elevational view on the line 2--2 of Fig. l; and
Fig. 3 is a sectional elevational View on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1.
Referring now to the drawings more in detail, the invention will be fully described.
A receptacle member is represented by 2 and a closure therefor is shown at 4. The closure 4 may be hinged to the receptacle 2 by a hinge 6 so as to be swingable relative thereto. Or any other means may be employed for removably holding the closure on the receptacle, if desired.
The receptacle member may be made from a suitable plastic by a molding operation and the closure may be made from a similar or a different material.
The receptacle at one end is provided with a cavity 8. The lower portion of the cavity is adapted to contain powder indicated by l0. A cover l2 which may be made from relatively thin metal or plastic is provided to overlie the powder and is provided with one or more openings such as l 4 through which powder may pass.
An applicator l 6 is provided which may overlie the cover I2 and will be made from fabric or the like adapted to retain powder for application thereof.
A container 20 for rouge is provided which is insertable in the cavity and a container 22 is provided for cold cream or the like. The lower edge portion of the container 22 is receivable in the upper portion of the cavity 8, as shown.
A horizontal bore 24 extends inwardly from an opposite end of the receptacle and is formed to removably receive a lipstick device of ordinary 1 Claim. (Cl. 132-79) form. A spring may be provided in the cavity to hold a lipstick therein against displacement.
Where the receptacle 2 is made from plastic and by a molding operation, the containers 26 and 28 may be molded in the body of the receptacle in such a manner that neck portions 3G and 32 of the containers extend upwardly through the upper face of the receptacle. Or the receptacle may be formed with cavities for receiving containers extending upwardly from the lower face. Plugs such as 3 may be secured in place by cement or the like to close the cavities.
The necks of the containers may be threaded to receive threaded Stoppers 34 and 36 for closing the said containers and one or both of said stoppers such as 36 may carry an applicator such as a brush 38 or a dropper of suitable form.
By molding the metal containers in the receptacle and which are not acted upon by the components of perfume or nail polish the plastic of the receptacle is protected as is desired.
The components are relatively disposed in such a Way that they are readily accessible for use while at the same time with the closure 4 in closed position the kit is compact and the other contents of a handbag in which the kit is most likely to be carried are protected.
The invention may be embodied in other speciic forms without departing from the essential characteristics thereof. Hence, the present embodiments are therefore to be considered in all respects merely as being illustrative and not as being restrictive, the scope of the invention being indicated by the appended claim rather than by the foregoing description, and all modications and variations as fall within the meaning and purview and range of equivalency of the appended claim are therefore invented to be embraced therein.
What it is desired to claim and secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
A toilet kit comprising, in combination, a solid body having upper and lower horizontally disposed faces and front and rear vertically disposed faces and semi-circular vertically disposed end faces at opposite ends of said body connected to and adjacent said upper and lower faces and said front and rear faces, said body being provided adjacent one of its ends with a vertically extendsite sides of said lipstick cavity and each having, 1 neck portions extending upwardly through and.
beyond said neck openings in said upper face, and
ing between a closed position overlying said ,upper face and an open position away therefrom.
