1 Claim. (Cl. 222;-103) This invention relates to a combined toilet kit and dispensing unit and has for an object the provision of a un-it which is compact in construction, and yet which has provision therein. not only for retaining all of the ordinary articles required for toilet purposes, but also including provision for dispensing the material that normally is provided in tube form.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a container which is Capable of being formed from moldable material and which is adapted to be used either as a carrying kit or as a structure adapted to be attached to a wall for home use.
Referring now to the drawings, Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a unit embodying my inven tion as applied to a carrying kit; Figs. 2, 3 and 4 are sections taken on planes indicated by the correspondingly numbered lines in Fig. 1, section 3 passing through spindle 35 and section 4 having the compartment wall which is between spindles 26 and front wall Il cut away; Fig. 5 is a perspective view illustrating a device embodying my invention as applied to a wall bracket; Fig. 6 is a side view oi the device showing it attached to a wall bracket; Fig. '7 is a top plan View partly in section taken on the plane indicated by the line l-l in Fig. 5, and Fig. 8 is a Section taken on a plane indicated by the line 8-8 in Fig. 7.
The structure of Fig. l has a boX-like body lil to which is hinged at l l a suitable cover l2. The body and cover have registering partitions which divide the unit into spaced compartments suit able for carrying toilet articles, and such compartments may be varied in size and shape in ac cordance with the predetermined individual requirements. Two of such compartments in the body are designated at I and i5, as extending from the front wall Il to the rear wall I8 thereof, and in each compartment an opening 2B, adapted to receive the neck of a tube indicated by the dot and dash lines 2i, is provided on the iront wall. The front wall is sufciently thin in such region to enable the threaded end of the tube to project beyond the forward face of the wall and to receive the usual cap 22 for threaded engagement with the neck of the tube. Each tube may be inserted, after first removing the cap 22 thereof, into a compartment through an opening in the rear wall i8 which may be closed by a plate 24, as is shown in Fig. 2. The contents of the tube may be ejected therefrom by means of a compression plate 25, one of which is mounted in each compartment l5 or I6 for reciprocal movement therein under the control of a spindle 2 26, which has threaded engagement with the par( tition wall 2l and has a swivel connection 28 with the plate. The upper end of the spindle 26 is fitted withk a knurled head 29 to facilitate turning thereof for the purpose oi imparting pressiiie to the tube.
The body o'f the unit likewise has provisin for4 a razor sharpening device, and this includes blade carrier 3D which is mounted for reciproca# tion within a guide block 3| that is held in place by suitable set screws 32. The carrier may be reciprocated manually by means of a spindle 35, the inner end of which is fastened in any convenient way to the carrier and the outer end of which is provided with a knurled head 36. A curved hone 40 is anchored in the body and in spaced relation to the carrier, but in sufciently close proximity thereto that the blade to be honed is flexed when reciprocated thereagainst.
In addition to the compartments as aforesaid, the unit may have a compartment 45 opening into the front wall l1 thereof, which is adapted to be closed by a cap 46 for retaining a styptic pencil in an airtight location.
In the modification of Fig. 5, the cover is dispensed with and instead the unit comprises a body 6l) which has a lug 6i on the back wall thereof. The sides of the lug are tapered vertlcally, as well as horizontally, to fit into a guideway formed by correspondingly tapered arms 62 that project from a wall plate B3. The plate may be rigidly attached to the wall by securing members which extend through the openings 64, and the body may be detachably connected whenever desired for inserting the tubes, the contents of which are to be dispensed, as previously set forth. For this purpose, the body has compartments 65 and 66 in each of which a compression plate El is mounted for movement against the tube by means of a threaded spindle 68 which has a threaded engagement with the adjacent wall of the body, and has a swivel connection 69 with the plate. The outer end of the spindle has a knurled head 'HJ to facilitate turning of the spindle. The forward end of each compartment has an opening ll for receiving the neck of the tube, whereas each compartment has the rearward end closed by a plate 12 which is detachably connected to the body by securing members 13.
The modification of Fig. 5 likewise has a razor sharpening device which includes a blade carrier 8i) that is mounted for reciprocation within a guide 8| that is adjustably held in position by set screws 82, .and also has a curved hone 83 which is set into a cavity in the body at a suicient distance from the carrier so that the blade must be flexed during reciprocation of the carrier with reference to the honing surface. The spindle, by means of which the blade can be reciprocated, is indicated at 35 in Fig. 5, and the spindle has a knurled head 86 to facilitate such reciprocating operation.
An important advantage of the present invention is the fact that various toilet articles may be conveniently mounted within a compact unit, and that the material, such as toothpaste or shaving cream, may be dispensed without waste and Without necessitating contact of the tube by the ngers to effect the dispensing operation. An additional advantage is the fact that a razor blade Sharpener is conveniently held in the unit and is readily accessible for expeditious use whenever desired. Additionally, the unit has ample storage compartments for the customary toilet articles and yet is sufficiently small so that it may be conveniently carried in a traveling bag, or may be readily attached to a supporting bracket upon a wall.
I claim:
A toilet kit having a body with a plurality of partitions dividing it into spaced compartments, a cover for the kit, one of said compartments extending from one wall of the body to the opposite wall thereof, said body having .a horizontal partition above said compartment, openings in 4 the opposite ends of the compartment, one materially smaller than the other, said compartment being adapted to house a exible tube inserted through the larger opening and having its neck projecting through the smaller opening to a suincient distance to receive outside of the wall, a cap on the flexible tube, a pressure plate in said compartment adapted to overlie the tube and movable up and down and a screw threaded in said horizontal partition and having a swivel engagement with the pressure plate to force it down onto the tube.
