ROTARY C IGARETTE DI SPENSER Filed Sept. 7, 1945 Patented Sept. 6, 1949 ninrrno STATES PATENT OFFICE *RUTMY DISPENSER LuimSiilLBuenos Aires, Argentina Application September 7, 194 5,'SerialNo.-6-14,851
- in Argentina July '21, 1945 I acnims. (Cl. 312-911) My present invention refers to a novel combination application :for smokers :and card-players.
main -.ob'ject of :my invent'mn consists liIl moaidinga novelfand nseiiuliappliance which con- :sists :of ithe combinationnf a'zne-w type of cigarette box with an ash tray, a casing for playinga'cards, and auco'rmting frame for card-players.
Another object of my invention consists in providing a new typecf cigarette box comprising a rotative cigarette holder, a cylindrical-container for housing said cigarette holder, and a longitudinal slot provided in said container for taking out one by one the cigarettes *from said holder.
Still another object of my invention COHSiStSjIl providing :a new type of cigarette lbox comprising aa :rotative cigarette holder, .a container form-ed y-an outer cylinder and an inner cylinder for housing said cigarette holder, a longitudinal slot provided in each of said cylinders for taking out therethrough one by one the cigarettes from said holder.
Another object of my invention consists in providing a new type of cigarette box forming part of a combination appliance for smokers and comprising a rotative cigarette holder, a cylindrical container for housing said cigarette holder, said container having double walls coinciding longitudinal slots in said walls, and a cover fixedly connected to said cigarette holder for closing said container and for rotating said holder in said container.
My present invention combines the features of ingeniousness with that of novelty, the first being represented by the ingenious combination in a homogeneous and compact assembly of all that is necessary for pleasantly passing the time by smokin and playing cards, whereas the feature of novelty is more particularly embodied in the construction and arrangement of the cigarette box which forms part of the combination appliance for smokers and card-players, according to my invention.
Besides the objects referred to, my present invention comprises the construction and arrangement of parts of the novel combination appliance as will be hereinafter more particularly described with reference to the accompanying drawing, on which:
Figure 1 is a plan view,
Figure 2 is a side elevation of the novel combination appliance for smokers and card-players according to the invention,
Figure 3 is a vertical section of the cigarette box forming part of the appliance shown in Figures 1 and 22, :said section being tak n along the line IZ[-II-II of Figure 4, and
Figure 415 a horizontal section of the cigarette b'ox'along the line .IV-IV of the Figure 12.
Referring to the accompanying drawing, show- ;ing by way of example only a practical embodiment of my present invention, :the novel combination appliance for smokers and card-players comprises a base member al of suitable :form and size, made of wood, =metal, stone, plastic, .or other suitable material, said base member being ipartiy hollow so as to form an open cavity or space '2 :destined for containing a pack .of playing-cards 'tnot shown).
The base member l, :near one of its ends, is provided at is upper surface with a cavity 3 of circular or any other desired form, constituting an ash tray, said cavity communicating with two =or.more flat open channels -or grooves 4 "adapted 20 for depositing therein lighted cigars or cigarettes.
Upon the central portion of the base member I there are mounted a number of frames 5 made of metallic wire or other suitable material, each frame carrying a plurality of beads, balls or discs 6, thus forming counting frames which enable card-players to readily register the points of their game.
The base member l finally carries a cigarette box I, which comprises an outer cylinder l3 and an inner cylinder l2, both cylinders provided with coinciding vertical longitudinal slots l5 and M, respectively, of sufficient width to permit a cigarette of normal size to pass therethrough.
The inner cylinder [2 contains a longitudinally grooved cigarette holder 8 constructed of any kind of sheet material in such a manner that its outer surface provides a plurality of adjacent grooves 9 adapted to form in combination with said inner cylinder l2 a plurality of substantially confined longitudinal spaces of suflicient width and length to rece ve one cigarette of normal size in each of said spaces.
The cigarette box 1 is provided with a cover III, which is fixedly mounted on the cigarette holder 8, the arrangement being such that, as said holder is loosely placed within the inner cylinder 12, without the edges ll of the grooves 9 thereof being in contact with the surface of said inner cylinder, said holder may be readily rotated by means of the cover l0 and thus the cigarettes contained in said grooves 9 may be moved around until they reach the slots I4, I5 of the two cylinders l2, l3 and may be taken out one by one through said slots.
The inner wall I2 of the cigarette box 1 may be omitted, if desired, but conveniently the same is also rotatively disposed within the outer cylin der I3, and may be provided with a pair of pins or the like extending through corresponding horizontal slots provided in the wall of the outer cylinder [3, the arrangement being such that by means of said pins the inner cylinder I2 may be rotated relative the outer cylinder l3 over a short distance sufiicient to move the slot I4 out of registration with the slot l5 and to thus close the lateral opening of the cigarette box 1.
From the preceding specification and the dis-' closure of the accompanying drawing the novelty of combination and the utility of the combination appliance according to the invention will be readily appreciated, the same being not only useful and decorative for smoking tables in private homes, but may be also advantageously used in clubs, ofiices, etc.
It will be understood that the present invention is by no means restricted to the embodiment as described and shown, but that amendments and modifications as to form and details may be made therein as falling within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus fully described the nature of my present invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A cigarette holding arrangement comprising in combination an outer cylindrical container having a vertical axis; a longitudinal vertical slot in said outer cylindrical container extending parallel to said said vertical axis thereof; an inner cylindrical container arranged within said outer cylindrical container coaxially therewith and being rotatable about said axis relative to said outer cylindrical container; a longitudinal vertical slot in said inner cylindrical container extending parallel to said vertical axis thereof; a cigarette holder rotatably mounted within said inner cylindrical container coaxially therewith; and a cover Number 4 for said holder and said containers fixedly mounted on said cigarette holder for rotating said cigarette holder within said inner cylindrical container.
2. A cigarette holding arrangement comprising in combination an outer cylindrical container having a vertical axis; a longitudinal vertical slot in said outer cylindrical container extending parallel to said vertical axis thereof; an inner cylindrical container arranged Within said outer cylindrical container coaxially therewith and being rotatable about said axis relative to said outer cylindrical container; a longitudinal vertical slot in said inner cylindrical container extending parallel to said vertical axis thereof; a cigarette holder rotatably mounted within said inner cylin drical container coaxially therewith and compris ing a cylindrical body provided on its outer surface with a plurality of longitudinal vertical adjacent grooves forming a plurality of confined spaces between said holder and the inner surface of said inner cylindrical container; and a cover for said holder and said containers fixedly mounted on said cigarette holder for rotating said cigarette holder within said inner cylindrical container.
