Abstract
686,111. Ash-receptacles. DAVIS, R. Oct. 13, 1950 [Dec. 14, 1949; May 11, 1950], Nos. 32125/49 and 11798/50. Class 130. An ash receptacle comprises a box-like receptacle 17 closed by a tray 20 pivoted at 21 and having an extension 23 disposed at an acute angle to one wall 18 of the part 17, the said extension being divided up by a plurality of walls 24 between which a cigarette end to be snuffed is introduced, the tray 20 being subsequently tilted to deposit ash and stubs thereon into the receptacle 17. The wall 18 is preferably curved and the tray 20 may have one or more cigarette rests 25. The base of the box 17 is closed by a hinged lid 26. The first Provisional Specification describes an ash-tray having an extension comprising a pair of flat metal members disposed at an acute angle to one another and forming a snubbing device; the plates being preferably hinged together, and the second Provisional Specification describes an ash-tray including a rectangular box having on the top thereof a rectangular frame provided with a pivoted base operable by a lever at the side thereof.
