Abstract

736,221. Dispensing containers for toilet paper. HOSKING, H. G. W. Dec. 22, 1953 [Sept. 22, 1952], No. 23730/52. Class 18. A dispensing container for toilet paper in roll or interleaved sheet form comprises a housing with a base 2, side walls 3 and 4, and a back, a lid 6 being hingedly mounted at 5a on the back. A transparent flap 7 is hinged to the front edge of the lid 6 and closes the upper part of the front of the container, and a transparent panel 8 closes the lower part, the flap 7 overlapping the upper edge of the panel 8 and forming with a cross member 9 a dispensing slot. The edge of the flap may be used as a support against which the paper may be torn off. A catch may be provided to hold the flap in the closed position. L-shaped slots 10 in the side walls 3 and 4 support the roller of a toilet roll, and a spare roll is carried in the space 11. A deodorizer 12 and match box holder 15 are carried on the wall 4, and an ash tray 13 and cigarette extinguisher 14 are provided on the lid 6. On the outer wall 3 a holder for a memo pad is provided. In a modification the toilet roll in use and the spare roll are arranged side by side in the container, which is divided into two compartments. Alternatively interleaved toilet packs may be used, in which case a dispensing slot may be provided in the transparent flap.
