Description

(Model) B. SLOAT.
ROSETTB FOR BRIDLES.
No. 245,979. Patented Aug. Z3,1881.p
llrlllllll Aha/W A ta an n. PHERS. Pmoum m hu, Washington D. c.
'UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ROLANDIS SLOAT, OF BUTLER, INDIANA.
ROSETTE FOR BRI DLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 245,979, dated August 23, 1881.
Application filed February 15, 1881. (Model) To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ROLANDIS SLOAT, of Butler, De Kalb county, Indiana, have invented a certain new and Improved Rosette for Bridles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a front view of the rosette; Fig. 2, a similar view with the cap removed; Fig. 3, a section taken on .the line 00 m, Fig 1; and Fig. 4 a section taken on the line 3 3 Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference in the several figures denote the same parts.
My invention has for its object to provide a rosette for bridles which can be easily and cheaply made, which shall be readily attachable and detachable, and which, in addition, shall present a neat and ornamental appearance.
To this end my invention consists in a rosette constructed of a main portion or back, a staple or fastening-loop for securing such main portion to the bridle, and an outer ornamental portion adapted to be screwed to the main portion or back, so as'to cover the staple or fastenin g-loop, all asI will now proceed to describe.
In the drawings, A represents the back or main portion of the rosette constructed of a metal screw-threaded ring, a, and a metal back, a, soldered or otherwise secured to the ring.
B is the securing-loop, consisting, preferably, of a wire staple made to embrace the looped end 0 of the front piece of the head-stall between the twin loops at d, and passed through openings in metal back a, as shown in Fig. 1, its ends I) I) being turned down against theiuner face of said back piece or twisted together, as desired, to form a strong connection.
0 is the outer part or cap of the rosette, preferably made of metal, and adapted to be screwed to the main part A, so as to etfectually cover from view the fastening B. This cap may have a plain smooth exterior, but is preferably surrounded by an ornamental design, to give a neat and tasty appearance.
To detach or adjust the rosette the cap is unscrewed and the ends b b of the wire staple bent up, so as to enable the main part to be moved. In resecuring the main portion the same or another staple may be employed, and after its ends are turned down, as before described, the outer cap is replaced.
The parts A andO are preferably made of metal, though other material, such as rubber, vulcanized fiber, celluloid, or the like, may be employed, if desired.
, I. claim as new- Arosette for bridles, consisting of the main portion, composed of the screw-threaded ring a and back plate, ft, the fastening-staple B, having its ends b I) passed through the plate a and turned down against said plate, and the ornamental screw-threaded and removable outer cap, 0, adapted to be screwed to the main part A so as to conceal the fastening B, substantially as described.
ROLAN DIS SLOAT.
