3 Claims. 1
This invention has relation to a razor blade Sharpener.
An object of the invention is to provide a razor blade sharpener which will be of simple, practical, novel and improved construction.
And a further object is to provide a razor blade Sharpener of construction as hereinafter set forth.
With the above objects in view, as well as others which will appear as the specification proceeds, the invention comprises the construction, arrangement and combination of parts as now to be fully described and as hereinafter to be specifically claimed, it being understood that the disclosure herein is merely illustrative and intended in no way in a limiting sense, changes in details of construction and arrangement of par-ts being permissible so long as within the spirit of the invention and the scope of the claims which follow.
In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification,
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a razor blade Sharpener made according to the invention;
Fig. 2 is a plan view, partially broken away,
of the razor blade Sharpener disclosing a. cover thereof in folded condition; and
Fig. 3 is a plan view, partially broken away,
of said razor blade Sharpener disclosing said u cover in open or unfolded condition.
A flat sharpening element III of the razor blade Sharpener is constituted as a small piece or pane of glass or equivalent which is of rectilinear configuration as disclosed.
A cover for the fiat sharpening element or glass Iii consists of an exterior cover member I I and an interior cover member I2.
The exterior cover member II is constituted as a fiat sheet of relatively stiff material, such, for example, as card board, desirably having a roughened forward surface, and the interior cover member I2 is constituted as a fiat sheet of quite flexible material, such as tissue paper, de sirably having roughened forward and rearward surfaces. The exterior and interior cover members II and I2 are of rectilinear configuration and have approximately twice the area of the fiat sharpening element or glass I 0. The construction and arrangement are such that the cover members of the cover can be folded along a transverse line at the midlength of said cover so as to house or include the fiat sharpening element or glass I 0 between iiaps of the tissue paper I2 and the card board II.
One of the flaps, denoted I3, of the interior cover member or tissue paper I2 is secured to the adjacent, rearward surface of the flat sharpening element or glass ID, and the other iiap, designated I4, of said interior cover member or tissue paper is free of said fiat sharpening element or glass. Also, one of the flaps, represented I5, of the exterior cover member or card board I I is secured to the adjacent, rearward surface of the ap I3 of the interior cover member or tissue paper I2, and the other fiap, indicated I6, of said exterior cover member or card board is free of the flap I4 of said interior cover member or tissue paper.
More explicitly, the rearward surface of the flat sharpening element or glass IIJ'is covered with a coat of paint I 1, and cement, glue, or other adhesive material I8 upon substantially the whole of the forward surface of the iiap I3 of the interior cover member or tissue paper I2, between the paint I'I and said interior cover member or tissue paper, firmly unites sai-d element or glass I0 and said interior cover member or tissue paper with each other. Cement, glue, or other adhesive material I9 upon substantially the whole of the rearward surface of said flap I3 of the interior cover member or tissue paper I2, between the forward surface of the flap I5 of the exterior cover member or card board I I and said interior cover member or tissue paper, firmly unites said exterior cover member or card board and the interior cover member or tissue paper with each other.
Clearly, the interior cover member or tissue paper I2 constitutes a bond between the glass I0 and the cover stock Il. inasmuch as the for# ward surface of the fiap I5 of said cover stock I I and the rearward surface of the ap I3 of the tissue paper are rough, the cement. glue, or other adhesive material readily and easily can become caked-up between the exterior and interior cover members II and I2 thus to cause these to be securely united. The paint II constitutes a roughened surface and an additional bond between the cement, glue, or other adhesive material upon the rough, forward surface of said flap I3 of the tissue paper I2 and the glass IIJ insuring that said tissue paper and glass will be securely united. It is a function of the tissue paper I2 to absorb moisture from the glass I0, and the paint I'I dresses up said glass.
The forward surface of the flat sharpening element or glass I constitutes a honing surface over which razor blades to be sharpened arev What is claimed is:
1. A device of the character described comprising a fiat sharpening element, and a cover for said flat sharpening element consisting of an exterior cover member constituted as a flat sheet of relatively stiff material and an interior cover member constituted as a at sheet of flexible material, said exterior and interior cover members being substantially of twice the area of` said flatj sharpeninggelement and the cover being adapted to be folded so as to include the flat sharpening element between flaps of the exterior and inf.
terior cover members, a coat of paint upon a rearward surface of said at sharpening elementL adhesive material between substantially the whole of a forward surface of a ap'ofsaid-in terior cover member and the rearward surface of` the flat sharpening element having said coat of paint, and adhesive material between substantially the whole of a rearward surface of said mentioned'y iiapA of said' interior cover member and a forward.' surface of" aflapof. said exterior. cover: member..
2a A device ofthe character described compris.-
ing a. flati sharpening.' elementr constituted as4 a` piece of glass of rectilinear configuration, and a cover for-said' piece of@ glass consisting of` an. ex: teriori coverw member` constituted asV a. flat. sheet'` of. relatively; stiffV material such as card board;
having. arroughened.y forward surface and an interior cover member constituted', as a flat sheet of flexibley material? such asA tissue-l paper having a roughened forward and a roughened rearward surface, said exteriorsandinteriorcover members being'l of rectilinear configuration and substan.-
tiarllyof" twice. the area of, said.' at sharpening elementand the1 coverbeing adapted to be folded so as4 to include the flat sharpening element between flaps: of; the exterior and interiorl cover members; a coat; on paint. upon ai rearward surface of said` piece of glass, adhesive material. between substantiallyy the whole` of` a forward surface ofA a: fia'p: ofsaid4 interior cover-member and the rearward surface of the piece of glass having said coat of paint, and adhesive material between substantially the whole of a rearward surface of said mentioned flap of said interior cover member and a forward surface of a ap of said exterior cover member.
3. A device of the character described comprising a flat sharpening element, and a cover for saidflat sharpening elementconsisting of an exteriorrcover member constituted as a flat sheet of relatively stiff material such as card board having a roughened forward surface and an interior cover member constituted as a flat sheet of. flexiblel material such as tissue paper having a roughened forward surface and a roughened tially the whole of a rearward surface of saidv mentioned, flapof said interiorI cover member and ay forward surfacel of flap of said exterior covermember.
