Description

Dec. 15, 1925- F. PHILP DRAFTSMANS POUNCE BLOCK Filed Sept. 30. 1924' INVENTOR. flora PH/LP W 9% ATTORNEYS Patented Dec. 15, 1925.
PATENT OFFICE.
FLOYD PHILP, F LOMPOC, CALIFORNIA.
DRAFTSMANS POUNCE BLOCK.
Application filed September 30, 1924. Serial No. 740,883.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FLOYD PHILP, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Lompoc, in the county of Santa Barbara and State of California, have invented a new and useful Draftsmans Pounce Block, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to means for pre paring the surfaces of drawing or tracing cloth before working thereon and has for its object an improved pounce block to simplify such preparation of the cloth and to do away with the dustiness and flying about of the pounce powders heretofore used for the purpose mentioned.
" The drawings hereto show two modifications of my invention, the figures being substantially full size perspective views of the two forms.
In Figure 1 the simplest embodiment of the invention is shown and consisting of a block 1 of substantially pure silica (diatomaceous earth) to which a piece of felt 2 or other soft fibrous material is attached by glue, cement, varnish, or other adhesive.
In the form shown in Figure 2 the elements described are the same plus a block of wood 3 glued to the felt and another piece of felt 2 glued to the outer surface of the wood.
In this latter construction, the wood is preferably grooved around the exposed edge as shown at 4 to afford a finger grip- .is well rubbed into the cloth in the usual way.
I claim.
1. A pouncing device for tracing cloth and other drawing surfaces comprising a block of pounce material having a strip of fibrous material secured thereto.
2. A pouncing device for tracing cloth and other drawing surfaces comprising a block of pounce material having a strip of felt secured to one side thereof.
3. A pouncing device for draftsmans tracing cloth consisting of a block of pouncing material formed with a flat surface adapted for rubbing on the tracing cloth surface, a piece of fibrous material stuck to 60 the opposite surface, a gripping block stuck t0 the fibrous material, and a sheetof fibrous material secured over the outer surface of the gripping block.
