The invention relates to a bed spring rack attachment, and more especially to a disappearing shoe rack for attachment to a bed spring or the like.

The primary object of the invention is the provision of `a rack of this character, wherein when attached to a bed spring it can be used for the placing of shoes or other footwear therein for the holding of the same, so that these will be freely accessible when getting out of a bed, and also such shoes or other footwear may be conveniently placed in the rack when retiring to the said bed, and in this manner eliminating the necessity of searching the foundation under the bed for the shoes or footwear, as they will be orderly held in convenient reach of the user of such bed.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a rack of this character, wherein it is slidabll7 supported by the springs of a bed, so that such rack can be moved to a hidden position thereunder, and pulled outwardly thereof into visible position for acquiring the articles held thereby, thus eliminating the searching beneath the bed for shoes to be worn that may have been disarranged thereunder or out of immediate reach by a user or wearer.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a rack of this character, wherein the same is extensible and retractible and is of a range for the racking of a number of shoes or footwear, which will be held in an orderly manner, and readily accessible.

A still further object of the invention is the provision of a rack of this character, which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and eicient in operation, strong, durable, readily and easily handled, adapted for the placement, holding and removal of footwear, readily and easily operated, and inexpensive to manufacture and install.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter set forth in detail, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which shows the preferred embodiment of the invention, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.

Referring to the drawing in detail, A designates generally a portion of a woven bed spring of any well known construction, having the spaced longitudinal wire runs or -lengths I0, as usual, while attached to and depending from the springs is the rack denoted at B, as constructed in accordance with the invention.

The rack B comprises a pair of spaced parallel hanger sections Il, which by clamping strips l2 are anchored to the springs A in depending position from the under side thereof, as best seen in Figures 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the drawing. These sections Il' which are of plate form or board-like in their parallel arrangement are perpendicular to the horizontal lay of the springs. The clamping strips i2 are superimposed on the uppermost edges of the sections Il and overlie the springs, they being fastened in place to the sections by fasteners I3. The sections Il at the rear thereof are fitted to a cross tie and stop rail I4 to hold the same against spreading action from each other.

At the inner faces of the sections ll are horizontally aligned slide tracks or channeled guides l5 in which are slidably engaged runners IS having their base pieces il secured to the outer sides I8 of a movable racking frame |'9 provided with an open front and back, the open front being in the direction of one side rail, only a portion thereof being shown at 20, of a bedstead, and further provided with an inwardly inclined spaced rail-like racking bottom 2l, on which is placed footwear when removed from the feet of a wearer for the holding thereof.

The rack frame i9 when it is desired to place a shoe or lfootwear 22 therein is drawn outwardly next to the side rail 20 whence the said footwear is racked therein, and thereafter the frame I9 is moved inwardly so as to have it disappear inwardly beneath the springs A. Now, when the` footwear 22 is to be removed, the frame I9 is pulled outwardly to the side rail 20, which gives free access for the removal of the footwear from such rack B, the inward position of the frame being shown by dottedlines in Figure 3 of the drawing, While the outward position is shown by full lines therein.

What is claimed is:
