The water thus heated rises into the hot water ydrum 28 and thence passes through the conduits 36, where most of this water is evaporated into steam, andinto the steam drum 35.' The steam collects inf the topportion of the' steam drum 35 and can be drawn off through the conduit 40. Hot water fromfthe steamcdrum 35 passes through the water circulation pipes 42, 43, and 44 into the boilers 8and.9.-

A steam 4generator comprising a plurality of sidelby sideparallel horizontal fire tube boilers having passageways therethrough and therearound; combustion type heating means at one end of saidboilers; means lat the other end of said boilers providing an outlet passageway for heated combustion gases that have passed through and around said boilers; a hot water drum extending across the top of said boilers at one side of said gas outlet passageway and communicating with all of said boilers; a steam drum` positioned substantially parallel with and above the level oi said hot water drum and at the opposite side of said gas outlet passageway; and a plurality of conduits of relatively small diameter communicatively connecting said two drums and extending across said gas outlet passageway.
3. A steam generator comprising a horizontal re tube boiler having passageways therethrough and therearound; combustion type heating means at one end of said boiler; means at the other end of said boiler providing an outlet passageway for heated `combustion gases that have passed through and around said boiler; a hot water drum extending across the top of said boiler and communicating with said boiler; a steam drum positioned substantially parallel with and plurality of horizontal parallel re tube type boilers in said housing supported in spaced relation from each other and from the walls of said housing and having passageways therethrough and therearound; means forming a combustion chamber forwardly of said boilers communicating with said passageways; said means including a transverse baille wall adjacent the front ends of said boilers extending from the bottom of said housing Aupwardly to a point a short distance above the bottom plane of said boilers, a fuel burner in said combustion chamber, whereby heated products of combustion will be directed upwardly and caused to pass around the outside of said boilers and through the fire tubes of said boilers; means at the rear ends of said boilers providing an outlet passageway for heated cornbustion` gases that have passed through and around said boilers; a hot water drum extending across the top of said boilers and communicating with said boilers; a steam drum positioned substantially parallel with and above the level of said hot water drum and at the opposite side of said gas outlet passageway from said hot water drum; and a plurality of conduits communicatively connecting said two drums and extending across said gas outlet passageway.
