To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, LOUIS CoURTo'r, a citizen of the Republic of France, residing at Paris, 24 Rue Mogador, in the Republic of France, engineer, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cooking Stoves or Ranges, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to nnprovements in cooking stoves or ranges and the same has for its object, more particularly to provide a simple, efficient and reliable furnace in Further said invention has for its object,
to provide a stove or range having a clouble-walled, bell-shaped fluid receptacle, which has its top constructed and arranged to prevent the pocketing of steam, and to prevent the imperfect circulation of the water "and thereby eliminate the danger which may result from such imperfect circulation.
Further said invention has for its object to provide a stove or range having a boiler with a separate liquid heating apparatus by means of which a quantity of liquid is diboiler and passed through the fire space of said stove or range in order to superhea t the fluid, and the same then discharged into the fluid outlet leading from the boiler whereby to accelerate the flow or circulation of the main body of fluid through the boiler and its connected parts.
To the attainment of the aforesaid objects and ends my invention consists in the novel details of construction and inthe combination, connection and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described and then pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings 10 designates the outer casing or'shell of a stove which is provided at its front with the usual fire space and ash pit openings 11, 12, respectively, which are provided with doors 11 12 The top of the stove is provided witha circular pot-opening 13 within which arefitted the usual concentric rings 14, 15, and a circular cover or lid 16. At the upper rear edge of the casing 10, is provided asmoke pipe or outlet 17.
VVithinthe casing 10 is disposed a bell shaped, double-walled vessel 18 which is rectangular in cross-section and has its front portion vertical and disposed against the inner side of the front of the casing 10. The sides and back of said bell-shaped vessel 18 are inclined upwardly and disposed at a distance from the side and rear walls of the stove casing 10 in order to provide flue spaces whose upper portions are divided by vertical partitions 18 18 which extend from the top of the stove casing'to a point near the midde of the stove and are provided with'vertical openings 18? controlled by dampers 18 operated by rods 18 having their ends extending through the front of the stove casing 10. -The upper portion or topof the double walled vessel 18 is inclined downwardly and forwardly and said inclined portion is provided with a rec tangular opening 19 which is arranged in line with the pot opening 14 provided in the top of the casing 10. The lower front portion of said double-walled vessel 18 is provided with a rectangular transverse connection 20 which serves toconnect the lower opposite sides of said double-walled vessel 18 adjacent to its forward edge.
21 denotes a grate of the usualform which is supported upon lugs 22, 22 secured upon the inner, opposite sides of'the double-walled receptacle l8, and below said grate, and on about a level with the upper edge ,of' the transverse member 20,.is disposed an ash pit floor 23, which is supported at its front and rear edges upon lugs 24, 24 extending inwardly from the front and rear walls of said double'walled vessel 18 and the transverse member 20 at the front thereof. The space below said fioor 23 is filled with a suitable heat resisting substance 28 25 denotes a pipe, the lower end of which is bifurcated and has said bifurcated ends extending through the top of the stove casing 10 and connected to the upper rear portion of thedouble-walled vessel or boiler 18. The upper end of said pipe 25 may be connected to a suitable heating apparatus or series of heating apparatus or to any other desired receptacle or container. I

26 denotes an accelerator which consists of a plurality of pipes 27, 27 disposed against the inner surface of the rear wall of the double-walled receptacle 18. a The upper ends of said pipes 27, 27 are connected together and to an outlet pipe 28 which extends through the top of the double-walled receptacle 18, the top of the stove casing 10, r and into the pipe 25 extending from the top of said double-walled receptacle. The lower ends of the pipes 27, 27 extend to a point 'below the grate 21 and are there brought together and connected to an inlet pipe 29 which extends downwardly through the floor 23 of the ash pit and rearwardly below .the rear wall of the double-walled receptacle18, and thence upwardly behind the outer rear wall of the double-walled receptacle 18,
and is connected to said double-walled receptacle adjacent to the top thereof.
The operation of the apparatus is as follows :A part of the water which is initially heated in the, double-walled vessel 18 is withdrawn therefrom through the pipe 29 connected to said receptacle adjacent to its upper end, and. conducted by said pipe 29 to the pipe sections 27 27, of the accelerator 26 where the same becomes intensely heated by contact with the heat within the fire.
' rially accelerated and at the same time the temperature of the water is raised more rapidly and effectively than is otherwise possible.
In order to obtain the most efiicient action it is advantageous to supply the accelerator with water which has been previously heated to the highest temperature possible. In order to obtain water at such'temperature, the intake pipe of the accelerator is connected to the upper part of the boiler where the water is, of course, hottest. By
' preference a considerable portion of said intake pipe is arranged in the flue which serves to conduct the hot gases and products of combustion from the combustion cham ber of the furnace through the opening 19 in the top of said boiler 18 to the smoke pipe, and the end of said pipe thence carried into the recessed portion of the boiler and connected to the intake portion of the accelerator.
It is to be noted that as the water withdrawn from the upper part of the boiler has already attained a high temperature, it is rapidly superheated or converted into steam while passing through the accelerator, and the pipe 28 leading therefrom, and thereupon issues from the upper end of said pipe 28 with considerable velocity, and that the difference in temperature within the flue or fiues extending from the combustion chamher to the smoke outlet, within which the intake pipe of the accelerator is located, and that of the combustion chamber itself, in which the .accelerator and outlet pipe extending therefrom are located, is sufficient to maintain the desired circulation of fluid in the accelerator and connected parts.
At Figs. 4 and 5 a modified form of accelerator is shown. In this construction the accelerator 26 is shown in the form of a sinuous pipe having its lower end terminating at a point above the grate and connected to an inlet pipe 29 passing through an opening provided in the rear wall of the doublewalled vessel 18*. The inlet pipe 29 is then carried upwardly behind the rear wall of the double-walled vessel 18 and connected thereto adjacent to its top in the samemanner that pipe 29 is secured in the main construction above described. The outlet pipe 28 in this construction also passes through the double-walled vessel 18 through the stove casing 10 and into the main outlet pipe 25 extending from the top of the boiler 18*.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure with Letters Patent is:
' 1. The combination with a stove and boiler having a main outlet pipe extending therefrom, of an auxiliary heater located within the combustion chamber of said stove, means arranged partly within said boiler and partly between said boiler and the stove casing, connecting one portion of said auxiliary heater with said boiler, and means connecting another portion thereof directly with 3. The combination with a stove andboiler having a main outlet pipe extending therefrom, of an auxiliary heater comprising a plurality of pipes connected together at their adjacent ends, a pipe extending downwardly from the lower connected ends of said auxiliary heater below and to the rear of said boiler and extending upwardly between said boiler and the stove casing and having its end connected to said boiler adj acent to the upper end thereof, and an out-' let pipe connected to the upper connected ends of said auxiliaryheater and extending into the main outlet pipe extending from said boiler, substantially as specified.
4. The combination with. a stove and boiler having a main outlet pipe extending therefrom, of an auxiliary heater located within and adjacent to the rear wall of the combustion chamber of said stove,apipe extending from the lower end of said auxiliary heater to a point at the outer side of said boiler and thence upwardly within the flue provided between said boiler and the outer casing of said stoveand connected to said boiler adjacent to the upper end thereof, and an outlet pipe extending upwardly from said auxiliary heater andinto the main outlet pipe extending from said boiler, substantially as specified.
5. The combination of a stove, a boiler therein having a recessed central portion, a main outlet pipe extending from said boiler, a grate disposed within the recessed portion of said boiler, and acfiue extending from thecombustion chamber to the smoke outlet, with an auxiliary heater located to said boiler adjacent to the upper end thereof, and an outlet pipe extending upwardly from said auxiliary heater and into the main outlet pipe of the boiler whereby.
to discharge the fluid heated in said auxiliary heater directly into said main outlet pipe in the direction of the flow of fluid from the boiler therethrough, substantially as specified. V
6. The combination of a stove and boiler having a main outletpipe extending therefrom, with an auxiliary heater comprising a plurality of pipes having their adjacent upper and lower ends connected: together and disposed within the fire box ofsaid boiler" adjacent to the rear wall thereof, an
inlet pipe connected to the lowerconnected ends of said auxiliary heater and extending downwardly below the base of said boiler "and thence upwardly to the rear of said boiler and within the stove casing and having its upper end connected to said boiler adjacent to the upper end thereof, and an outlet pipe connected to the upper connected ends of said auxiliary heater and extending upwardly through said boiler and intothe main outlet pipe of the boiler, substantially as specified. 1
7. The combination of a stove and a boiler having a main outlet pipe extending therefrom, with an auxiliary heater comprising'a series of communicating tubes disposed within the fire box of said boiler and above the grate therein, an inlet pipe extending downwardly from said communicating tubes to the rear of said boiler and then extending upwardly between said boiler and the stove.

The combination of a stove and boiler, a main outlet pipe having one end bifurcated and connected to the upper portion of said boiler, and a flue provided intermediate the outer sides of said boiler and the inner sides of thercasing surrounding said boiler, with an auxiliary heater comprising a plurality of connected pipes, an inlet pipe connected to the upper rear side of said boiler and extending downwardly therefromcthrough the flue providedbetween the outer sides of said boiler and the inner sides of said casing and extending below said boilerand thence upwardly and into the fire box thereof and connected to the lower end of said auxiliary heater, and an outlet pipe secured to the upper end of said auxiliary heater and extend ing from the top of said boiler into the outlet pipe leading therefrom at the point where said main outlet 'pipe is connected with its bifurcated ends, substantially as specified.
9. In a cooking stove the combination of double-walled boiler inthe shape of a bell provided at its topwith an opening for the issue of gases, and an outlet conduit for the water leading from the top of said boiler,
