1 Claim. i
This invention relates to a strap designed for use in securing babies in high chairs or the like, to prevent the babies or infants from working loose or fallin from the high chairs in which the babies are secured.
An important object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which will present wide surfaces for contact with the body of the baby held by the strap, for the comfort of the baby.
Still another object of the invention is to construct a strap in such a way that the securing straps of the device will rest on the handles of the high chair to prevent them from sliding downwardly over the chair when in use.
Another object of the invention is to construct the strap of material which may bereadily washed, to maintain the strap in a sanitary condition at all times.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists ofcertain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter more fully described and pointed out in the claim, it being understood that changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.
Referring to the drawing Figure l is an elevational view illustrating the application of the strap, forming the essence of the present invention.
Figure 2 is a erspective view of a high chair showing the manner of securing the strap to the high chair.
Figure 3 is a. view illustrating the stra prior to positionlngit on a high chair.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the strap comprises a length of fabric material, the side edges thereof being curved inwardly as at 5, providing clearances for the legs of the baby held by the strap.
At each end of the body portion 8 of the strap, is a securing strap I which straps include buckles a whereby the body portion may be secured to the back of a high chair, as shown by the drawing.
In positioning the device, the strap l at one end of the body portion 6 is positioned around the back of a high chair, as shown by Fig. 2 of the drawing. The baby is then seated on the narrow portion of the body 8, and the loose end of the strap is now brought upwardly between the legs of the baby, and the strap 7 at this end or the body 6, is positioned around the back of the high chair, securing the baby in the high chair.
From the foregoing it will be seen that due to the construction shown and described, I have provided a strap which may be secured within a high chair and a baby held within the high chair, by the strap, in such a way that the baby cannot possibly work out of the strap, or slide through the sides of the strap to fall or get ,out of the high chair.
What is claimed is:
A strap for tying babies in chairs, comprising a body portion including a length of wide fabric material, the side edges of the body portion being curved inwardly from the ends thereof providing wide ends and a narrow intermediate portion forming a clearance for the legs of the baby positioned within the strap, laterally extended strap sections formed integral with each end of the body portion, the laterally extended straps adapted to be secured to the back of a high chair above the arms thereof, and the intermediate portion of the body portion providing a sling in which the baby using the device is held.
