{1 This invention relates to a cigarette rolling deoperated in either direction, either by the right or left hand. and in accordance with the desires of the operator.

A still further object of the invention is the provision of such a device which is sturdy and durable in construction, reliable and efiicient in operation, and relatively simple and inexpensive to manufacture and assemble.

Other objects will in part be obvious and in part be pointed out as the description of the invention proceeds, and shown in the accompanying drawings, wherein there is disclosed a preferred embodiment of this inventive concept.

Figure 1 is a top plan view, partly broken away, showing one form of device embodying the instant invention.

Figure 2 is a sectional View taken substantially along the line 22 of Figure 1, as viewed in the direction indicated by the arrows, certain con-' fiealed portions thereof being indicated by dotted nes.

Similar reference characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views of the drawngs.

Referring now to the drawing in detail, there is generally indicated at I a main supporting frame member comprised of a base H and upturned side portions l2. The side portions I? are provided with elongated oppositely disposed L-shaped slotted apertures l3 having adjacent depending legs it. Seated in the slots I3 for longitudinal movement therein are supporting axles l5 which support wooden rolls it of relatively large diameter. The extremities of the axle l5 extend through suitable apertures 19 in a rectangular movable frame I! adapted to move the rollers l 6 in a manner to be more fully described hereinafter, and havepositioned on the squared extremities thereof finger knobs is by means of which the rollers may be rotated. Positioned intermediately of the side portions l2 and relatively 2 between the extremities of the slots I3 are opposite aligned apertures which support two axles 20, which in turn carry rollers 2! of relatively small diameter as compared to the diameter of the rollers It.

A flexible band 22 of rubber or the like is adapted to surround the rollers It and overlie the rollers 2| fitting loosely therearound to provide slack, as indicated at 23 (see Fig. 2).

A paper guide 25 comprised of a pivotal wire loop having its lower extremities E i suitably journaled in apertures in the upper portions of the side walls I2 is also provided and positioned between the two rollers 2|.

It is to be noted that washers 26 may, if desired, be positioned between the side walls 52 and the rectangular roller-moving member l'l.

From the foregoing the operation of the device should now be readily understandable.

The rollers l6 are moved by the frame it to th desired position, either as shown in Figure 2, or oppositely, the position being limited by the length of the slots l3. It is to be noted that the frame I! serves to hold the rollers It in proper spaced relation during the cigarette rolling operation. The belt 22 is then positioned to provide slack, as indicated at 23, to form a transverse pocket to hold the tobacco. When the wooden rollers l6 are pushed back by means of the frame H, the pocket is forced back and up against one of the small rollers 2|. Then the paper can be inserted into the pocket in the space between the wooden roller l6 and the adjacent roller 2|, and the cigarette rolled and completed by operation of the proper knob l8. The paper guide 25 can be flipped on its extremities 24 toward either end of the device, so that the cigarette may be formed in either desired direction of movement of the frame l1.

From the foregoing it will now be seen that there is herein provided an improved cigarette making machine, which accomplishes all the objects of this invention, and others, including many advantages of great practical utility and commercial importance.

As many embodiments may be made of this inventive concept, and as many modifications may be made on the embodiment hereinbefore shown and described, it is to be understood that all matter herein is to be interpreted merely as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.

I claim:

1. In a device of the character described, the combination of a frame including side walls having elongated slots therein, axles journaled in ers are maintained in spaced relation, :1 flexiblebelt surrounding said rollers, auxiliary rollers spaced between and above said first-mentioned rollers and journaled in said side walls, and a paper guide positioned above and between said last-mentioned rollers.

3. In a device of the character described, the

combination'of a frame including. sidewalls havingelongated slots therein, axles journaled" in said slots, rollers carriedby said axles; an auxiliaryirame having apertures therein; said axles passing through said apertures whereby said rollers are maintained in spaced relation, 2. flexible belt surrounding said rollers, auxiliary rollers spaced between and above said first-mentioned rollers and journaled in said side walls, and a paper guide positioned above and between said last-mentioned rollers, said slots being provided with depending portions in which said axles are adapted to seat selectively.
