In the drawings hereto annexed, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a vessel provided with my improved ear. Fig. 2 is a cross-section; and Fig. 3 is a detail view, showing the recessed portion of the vessel and the plate or ear detached.
Corresponding parts in the figures are de: noted by like letters of reference.
In the drawings, A represents a metallic or earthenware vessel, having in its rim or sides, on opposite sides, a shallow recess, B, larger at the bottom than at the top, having its sides a dovetailed, and provided with one or more openings, (J, in its bottom.
By reference to the foregoing deseription it will be seen that the plate or ear is to be cast in the recess.
My invention is durable and inexpensive, and is not liable to be broken off or loosened, as is the case with those ears that project from the side of the vessel.
Having thus described m y in vention, Iclaim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States- The vessel A, having the dovetail recesses B and openings 0 formed in its sides, in corn bination with the dovetail pieces D, having lugs E and H cast in said recesses, as herein shown and described.
