When the shutter 30 is assembled relatively to the lock by insertion over the post' I1, surface 32a of its flange 3l will lie against the leg 34 oi' the spring 33 while its surface 32 will lie against the leg 35 of the spring 33. It is obvious that with this relation of the parts, the shutter 30 will be held yieldingly in its central position of Fig. 1 and against pivotal'movement about the post I1. For preventing endwise movement of the shutter 30 off the post I1, a headed pin 4I! is'utilized as best-shown in Fig. 3. This headed pin 4I] is forced into the bore I8 of the post I1 and holds the parts assembled as illustrated in Fig. 3.
, The inner face ofthe shutter 30 is formed with a depression 4I Within which is mounted a seal 42 in the form of a disk. A spring 43 lies between'the seal 42 and the inner surface of the depression 4I and tends to press the seal 42 relatively to the shutter 30 and against ra. flange 44 outlining the opening 21 of the scalp 25. In Fig. 3, the seal 42 is shown against the flange 44 and inr sealing relation to the opening 21. The direct application of the pressure of spring 43 against the seal 42 urging it towards the flange 44, is extremely effective in sealing the opening 21. As a matter of fact, the seal is considerably better than that of my patent supra, although the results obtained from my earlier invention are very superior toV those obtained from the earlier seals employed in the art.
When it is desired to obtain access to the keyway I6, the shutter 30 is movedfrom its position of Fig. 1 to its position of Fig. 2. As the shutter moves to the position of Fig. 2, the surface 32a of the flange 3| will press against -the leg 34 of the spring 33 and will move that spring leg to the position of Fig. 5. Fig. shows the position of the spring 33 and cooperating parts when the shutter is in its position of Fig. 2. In Fig. 5 the leg 34 of the spring 33 is shown against the limit surface 2I of the flange I9. 'In order to further rotate the shutter in the direction in Which it is movedV to its position of Figs. 2 and 5, it would be necessary to shear the leg 34 of the spring 33. Therefore, it may be said that spring 33. yieldingly limits the throw of the shutter 30. This is a very important feature of the invention asV those skilled in the art will fully appreciate.
I believe that the operation and construction of my invention will now be apparent to those skilled in the art.
I now claim:
1. In a lock of the class described, a key hole shutter, means mounting said key hole shutter on said lock for movement relatively to the key hole of said lock, and cover means movable with said' key hole shutter and relatively to said key hole shutter for covering the said key hole.
It is important at this point to note also the e a se of assembly of theshutter 30 relatively to the head of the cylinder Ill. Thus, because of the type of spring utilized, the mere placing ofthe ange 3I of the shutter 30 over the post I1, eifectively assembles the shutter relatively lto the spring 33.

In a lock of the class-described, a key hole shutter, means mounting said key hole shutter on said lock for movement relatively to the key hole of said lock, cover means movable with said key hole shutter and relatively to said key hole shutter for covering the said key hole, and a spring for-pressing said cover means relatively to said key hole shutter and againstV said key hole.
4. In alock of the class described, a key holel shutter, means mounting said key hole shutter on said lock for movement relatively to an opening of the lock through which a key is inserted into the key hole ofthe lock, .cover means movable with said key hole shutter and relatively to said key hole shutter for covering the said opening, and the said opening having a sealing outlining surface for sealing cooperation with said cover means.4
5. In a lock of the class described, a key hole shutter, means mounting said key hole shutter on said lock for movement relatively to the key holeNof said lock, a spring between said key hole shutter and lock for urging said key hole shutter into a predetermined position relatively to said lock, cover means movable with said key hole shutter and relatively to said key hole shutter for covering the said key hole, and a spring for pressing said cover means relatively to said l key holeshutter and toward coveringrelation to said key hole. l y

In a lock of the'class described, having a key hole, a key hole shutter, means mounting said key hole shutter on a portion of said lock for movement relatively to said key hole, a key hole seal mounted on said key hole shutter and movable relatively thereto, a spring pressing said key hole seal relatively to said key hole shutter and toward a cavity formed about the front end of said key hole, a sealing surfaceformed on said key hole seal for sealing contact with the periphery of said cavity whereby effectively to seal said key-hole when said key hole seal is moved with said key hole shutter into position opposite said cavity, and a spring for yieldingly positioning said key hole shutter with said key hole seal opposite said cavity.
9. In a lock of the class described having a front head portion, a torsion spring mounted on said lock and having opposed ends, means on said head portion limiting the throw of each of said ends whereby to hold said spring in an initial position, a key hole shutter having opposed parts cooperable with said opposed spring ends, means mounting said key hole shutter for rotation substantially about the axis of `said spring and relatively to the said lock, the rotation of said key hole shutter in one direction being opposed by one of said spring ends while its rotation in a reverse direction is opposed by the other of said spring ends.
10. In a lock of the class described having a front head portion, a torsion spring mounted on said front head portion and having opposed ends, means on said head portion limiting the throw of each of said ends whereby to hold said spring in an initial position, a key hole shutter `having opposed parts cooperable with said opposed spring ends, means mounting said key hole shutter for rotation substantially about the axis of said spring and relatively to the face of said front' head portion, the rotation of said key hole shutter in one direction being opposed by one of said spring ends while its rotation in a reverse direction is opposed by the other of said spring ends, the rotation `of said key hole shutter moving one of said spring ends until it contacts the limit means of the other of said spring ends to limit the rotation of said key hole cover.
11. In a lock of the class described having a key opening for the 'insertion of a key, a pin extending from said lock body, a shutter pivotally mounted on said pin for pivotal movement relatively to said lock body, a spring placed about said pin and having opposed legs, a portion of said shutter cooperating with one of said legs to move said leg as said shutter is pivoted in one direction, a second portion of said shutter similarly cooperable with the other of said legs when said shutter is pivoted in a reverse direction, and means whereby the movement of said legs is limited to limit the throw of said shutter.

In a lock of the class described having a front head portion, a key plug rotatable in a bore formed in said lock body, a scalp assembled on said head portion and having an opening in alignment with the key plug, a shutter mounted on said lock body for movement relatively to said scalp into and out of covering relation to said opening, a seal for said opening movably mounted on said shutter and movable therewith, and a spring for pressing said seal relatively to said shutter and toward sealing relation to said open- 13. In a lock of the class described, a lock body, a key plug rotatable ,in said lock body, a scalp, means securing said scalp on said lock body to form an integral part thereof, said scalp having a depressed opening in alignment with said key plug, the periphery of said opening being defined by an inwardly flanged surface, a. shutter mounted on said lock body for movement relatively to said scalp into and out of covering relation to said opening, a seal for said opening movably mounted on said shutter and having a flanged portion corresponding to the periphery of said opening for sealing said opening, and a spring for pressing said seal relatively to said shutter and toward sealing relation to said opening.
15. In a lock of the class described having a front head portion, a spring mounted on said front head portion and having opposed ends, a key hole shutter having opposed parts cooperable with said opposed spring ends, means mounting said key hole shutter for rotation relatively `to the face of said front head portion, the rotation of said key hole shutter in one direction being opposed by one of its opposed parts cooperable with one of said spring ends while its rotation in a reverse direction is opposed by the other of its opposed parts cooperable with the other of said spring ends.
