- This invention relates to winding machines for producing tubular cops.
- a revoluble member carrying a, plurality oi winding spindles moves, in accordance with rotary feed steps, one winding spindle after theother'within the range of a stationary press piece in such manner that by action of said piece the tubular cop in progress of formation is advanced on the winding spindle commensurate with its increase in length and at the same time a counter holder accommodating he front cop end is displaced, said counter holder bein in the form of a thread catch for the purpose of catching the end of the thread oi a finished tubular cop automatically leaving the working position and passing said thread to the winding spindle arriving at the working position.

- the tubular cop B thus formed on this spindle 5 contacts with the counter holder I I after having reached a certain length, thereby to urge said holder backwardly so that the winding thread slides off of the said finger II and is then no longer guided on the counter holder ll.

- the holding socket 35 is mounted in a sleeve 31 for smooth rotary movement by means of a ball bearing 35 which sleeve is firmly fastened to the cylindrical counter holder body II.
- the rear end of the holder body II is mounted by means of a bottom 38 on a central stud 39 which is rotatably mounted in a holding device 40 whichis fixed to the gear box of the machine by means of a supporting rodwork.
- is secured on the rear end portion of the holder body II whereby a mass of an accordingly great inertia is formed compared with which the inertia of the mass of the holding socket 35 is substantially smaller.
- the front end of the holding socket 35 projects beyond the front end of the holder body II a certain distance.
- the conically tapering front end of the holder 35 constitutes a thread guide in a manner not shown. In connection therewith on the above said tapering end of the holder body II, for example, spring fingers or spindle in the required manner.

- the supporting socket 35 then runs at the same speed of revolution as the winding spindle 5 and the rotational speed of the block formed by the parts Ii and H increases up to a maximum which dependent upon circumstances may be more or less in the order of the rotational speed of the supporting socket 35.
