This invention relates to display mounts of the kind adapted to support and display photographs, pictures or otheriindicia. I

More particularly, the invention relates to a display mount having a mount supporting easel adapted to support the mount in display position. In my Patent No. 2,240,209 I have disclosed a displaymount having a supporting easel-whichmaybe folded into the plane of the back of. the mount so as to occupy littlesp'aceand. permit a large number of mounts to be stacked upon each other with ease and without dangerof warping.

The mount disclosed in my prior patent also includes a locking tongue for holding the mount supporting easel in open'position and the-tongue shown in that patent is formed from the body of the easel.

It is the primary object. of this invention to provide a mount of the general character shown, in my previous patent butwhich embodies a construction wherein the easel locking'tongue formed in an intermediate board. This improved mount supporting easel 28 which has its free end I ofa flexible decorative binding material I6 which extends over the entire facial surface of the face board Ill and around the marginal edges of the three boards. The marginal edges of the binding material IBare' folded against the rear surface of the back board. T e exposed marginal-edges of the binding material ,I6 are preferably concealed by a second piece of binding material I8 which is I attached to the rear surface of the back board overlaps the exposed edges of the facing material I61. The binding..materials I6 and I8 are preferably attached to the adjacent surfaces of the mount by means of gluing the same throughout their entire surface area.

I The face board ID has provided therein a picture-display window 22 throughwhich a picture or other indicia may be viewed. The intermediate board I2 has formed therein a tongue 24 which has a free end adaptedto engage an easel for retaining the mount in display position.

Hereimfor purpose of illustration, the free end of the tongue is shown as being disposed near the bottom of the board. The tongue 24 is provided at its other end with one or more transverse score lines 26 about which it may swing into an angular position. v

' adapted to rest against a supporting surface when will become apparent as the description of an illustrative embodiment thereof is read in connection with the drawing forming a part hereof.

Figure 2 illustrates the intermediate board forming a part of the mount;

Figure 3 illustrates the back board forming a part of the mount; and

Figure 4 is a medial longitudinal sectional View of the mount showing th same in display position.

In the preferred construction the mount body consists of a plurality of boards, herein illustrated as consisting of a face board I0, an intermediate or second board I2, and a. back board I4, all of which may be substantially coextensive. The face board ID, the intermediate or second board I2, and the back board I4 are joined togetherto form a unitary structure. Insofar as this invention is concerned, the three boards constituting the mount may be joined in any suitable manner butpreferably they are. joined by means the same is opened to mount supporting position. Herein, for purpose of illustration, the free end of the easel is shown as being disposed near the 7 bottom of the board. The opposite end of the easel 28 i provided with one or more transverse score lines 30 about which the same may swing into an angular position. The easel 28 is also provided with means for engaging the free end 7 to permit, inter-engagement of their respective of the locking tongue 24 and herein that means is illustrated ascomprising an aperture 32 into which the reduced shouldered end 34 of locking tongue 24 may pass. The locking tongue 24 and the easel 28 maybe attached to their respective boards in anyway so longv as they are correlated engaging portions 32-34.

In the preferred construction it will be seen that the bottom of the picture-display window 22 lies at leastslightly above the score lines 26 at the upper end of thelocking tongue 24. By arranging the proportions of the several parts in this manner, the intermediate board I2 presents a continuous surface 36 affording substantial support for a picture or the like.

, Herein the facev board I0 forms a decorative framefor a picture in the mount. However, the

face board may be omitted from the combination without effecting the function and advantages of the easel and locking tongue arrangement. A picture 40 may be assembled with the mount during the manufacture thereof or any conventional picture-inserting openin may be provided for the purpose of inserting and re- -moving pictures from the mount enclosure.

The invention has been described herein with respect to a single embodiment thereof but the advantages of the construction may be achieved in other forms and it is therefore my intention that the invention be not limited other than by the.

limitations appearing in the following claims.

What I claim is: 1. In a picture mount or the like constructed of light-weight flexible stock adapted to support a picture in display position, a back board, an

easel formed in said back board and being hinged I said second board under said easel, said tongue having a free end and a base that is integral with said second board, a score line extending across the base of said tongue at a point below the bottom edge of said display window, the free end of said tongue being adapted to engage the slot in said easel in mount-supporting postion and said tongue being adapted to lie parallel to and between said face board and the easel in said back board when said parts are folded in non-supporting position.

2. In a picture mount or the like constructed of light-weight flexible stock adapted to support a picture in display position, a back board, an easel formed in said back board and being hinged thereto for angular movement into and out of mount-supporting position, a cut-out slot in said easel, a second board lying in contact with the face of said back board, a face board overlying said second board, means joining said boards together to form a unitary mount structure, a picture display window in said face board, an easel locking tongue under said easel, said tongue having a free downwardly extending end and a base at its upper end that is integral with said second board, a score line extending across the base of said tongue at a point below the bottom edge of said display window and in a direction substantially parallel thereto, the free end of said tongue being adapted to engage the slot in said easel in mount-supporting position and said tongue being adapted to lie parallel to and between said face board and the easel in said back board when said parts are fold ed in non-supporting position.
