Referring to provements have been illustrated therein as embodied'in a hasp I, of usual-construction with exceptions presently noted, and comprising an anchoring plate 2 shown secured to a door 3 by screws 4 and having vatthe inner end thereof a'hinge barrel 5 straddled by a divided hinge barrel Son the inner end of a,latch plate 8 swingable about the axis of the barrels 5, 6 overthe plate 2 and over the usual staple member 9 on the door frame III to project the staple through an end slot II in the plate 8 for the attachment -of a padlock I2 to said staple member.
According to my invention, a rectangular notch I3 is provided in the hinge barrel end'of the latch plate 8. between the parts ofthe divided barrel 6. The pintle I4 extends at its opposite ends beyond the parts of the hinge barrel 6 and the drawing by numerals, my immovement of the latch plate 8, and held against uncoiling in the, opposite direction'by the section I8 bearing against the anchoring plate 2.
A'particular advantage of my invention is that uncontrolled swinging of the latch bar, frequent ly resulting in injuryto an operator and damage to the hasp, is positively obviated, also rattling of doors due to play of the hasp on the staple member against the padlock.
The foregoing will, it is believed, suflice to impart a clear understanding of my invention without further explanation.
Manifestly, the invention, as described, is susceptible of modification without departing from theinventive concept, and right is herein reserved to such modifications as fall within the scope of the appended claim.
