To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES A. FAIRAND, a citizen of the United States of America, of Watertown, in the county of J etferson,in the State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Two-Way Locks, of which the following, taken in connection withthe accompanying drawings, is
(lesirableto provide a double lock whereby a the door or doors may be locked from both sides, such, for example, as the inside and outside in such manner that each lock is accessible for locking and unlocking at one side only of the doors and the main objectof my present'inventio-n is to provide a double 25 lock of this character which will enable the user to unlock and open the door or doors from either side even though the doors may be locked from the opposite side.
. Another object is to permitthe same look to be used for single or double, hinged or sliding doors.
Other objects and uses relating to specific parts of the lock will be brought out in the following description.-

Again assuminglthat the doors are slid able and are both locked from the inside and that itis desired-to open the doors from the outside in which case it is simply necessary to remove the locking member 13- and to swing the hasp 6 out of engagement with the staple'8 whereupon the hasp 6 may be used as ahandle by which to force the end branch 3 of the plate 2- out of engagement with the stud -14 whereupon either or both doors may be moved laterally away from each other to their open positions. course, be ineffective, but in some instances this stud -1 4= and its operating spring 16 may be entirely dispensed with without departing from the essential features ofthe invention.
hat I claim is: y l A double door lock of the character described comprising a T-shaped plate having its stem adapted to pass between the meeting edges of the doors andits branches adapted to overlap upon the adjacent sides of the doors, one of said branches beingprovided with a slot, a hasp hinged to thestem to swing to and from a position across the opposite face of one of the doors and provided with a slot, keepers on oppo'site'faces of the doors adapted to enter the adjacent slots and U locking members engaging said keepers.
