Description

Oct. 12, 1943. L. M. PERLITCH' COMBINED BLOUSE AND SLIP Filed July 23, 1941 INVENTO'R Zeea M Per-latch ATTORNEY Patented Oct. 12, 1943 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 2,331,620 conmmnn nnousn AND smr Lee: M. Perlitch, New York, N. Y.
Application July 23, 1941, Serial No. 403,599
2 Claims. (01. 2-74) This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a. combined blouse and slip.
The invention proposes a combination infant's,
child's and junior's blouse and slip connected together as a unit so that the slip will hold the blouse down and overcome an inconvenience of standard blouses which ride up out of the skirt,
7 unit.
Still further the invention proposes the provision of buttons, or other supporting elements mounted upon the blouse for assisting in supporting a skirt or similar garment over the slip. An arrangement is also proposed for properly supporting the slip so that it will not show from the bottom of the skirt.
Another object of the invention is the construction of an article as mentioned which is simple and durable and which may be manufactured and sold at a reasonable cost.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set'forth.
In the accompanying drawing forming a material part of this disclosure:
Fig. 1 is a front elevational view of a combined blouse and slip constructed in accordance with this invention.
Fig. 2 is a fragmentary enlarged vertical sectional view taken onthe line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a front elevational view of a combined blouse and slip constructed in accordance with another embodiment of this invention.
Fig. 4 is a fragmentary enlarged vertical sectional view taken on the line 4-4 of Fig. 3.
Fig. 5 is a sectional view similar to Fig. 4 but showing the parts in a different position.
Fig. 6 is another view similar to Fig. 1:, but illustrating a still further modification of the invention.
Fig. '7 is a. fragmentary enlarged sectional view taken on the line 1-1 of Fig. 6. In the form of the invention illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2, the combined blouse and slip includes a blouse III of any design, construction and size, to the bottom edge of which a slip H is secured by a line of stitches l2. The slip ll may be of any desirable material and be of any size.
In the form of the invention illustrated in Figs. 3 to 5 inclusive, the combined blouse and slip includes a blouse ii of any design, shape and size connected with a slip IS. A line of stitches i9 is utilized to secure together the adjacent portions of the blouse and slip.
Several buttons or other fastening elements I! are mounted upon the bottom portion of the blouse l5 and are adapted to assist in supporting an outer skirt. The slip I6 is also provided with several vertical lines of buttonholes i8 which may be selectively engaged upon the buttons H, as illustrated for example in Fig. 5, to shorten the slip and prevent it from projecting beneath ones outer skirt.
In Figs. 6 and '7 the blouse i5 is illustrated with a. bottom projection i5 to form an overblouse efiect when stitched to-the slip II' by stitches [9. In this form of the invention, the buttons l1 are'provided at the inner side of the blouse I5 for selective engagement with the buttonholes ill for the purpose of adjusting the slip with relation to the outer skirt.
With this combination garment-any number of buttons may be added for attachment of the outer skirt. The blouse may also be joined to the slip by an elastic connecting band to give the blouse fullness, or by arranging a belt effect with loops on the blouse portion of the garment.
An important feature of the invention resides in the fact that the blouse will not slip out of an outer skirt. The garment will be exceptionally comfortable when worn. It is easy to launder, and moreover, is less expensive, than a separate blouse and a separate slip.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred embodiments of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise constructions herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within the scope of the invention as delined in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:
1., A garment havinga blouse with its bottom edge attached to the top edge of a slip at the waist by a line of stitches, a row of buttons mounted on the bottom portion of said blouse above said line of stitches, and said slip being formed with a plurality of horizontal rows of vertically spaced button holes adapted to be selectively engaged with said buttons for lifting the bottom edge of said slip relative to said line of stitches, said slip having its top edge attached to the inside face of said blouse slightly inwards 60 of its bottom edge forming a free bottom projection on said blouse which projects downwards over the outside face of said slip.
2. A garment having a blouse with its bottom edge attached to the top edge of a slip at the waist by a. line of stitches, a row of buttons mounted on the bottom portion of said blouse above said line of stitches, and said slip being formed with a plurality of horizontal rows of vertically spaced button holes adapted to be selectively engaged with said buttons for lifting the bottom edge of said slip relative to said line 01 stitches, said slip having its top edge attached to the inside face of said blouse slightly inwards or its bottom, edge forming a free bottom projection on said blouse which projects downwards over the outside face of said slip, said buttons being mounted on the inside face of said blouse.
