Description

May 11, 1943. H. J. DIETRICH COMBINATION PAINT BRUSH AND PAIL HOLDER 2 Sheets-Sheet l Filed Dec. 30, 1941 May 11, 1943. H. J. DIETRICH COMBINATION PAINT BRUSH AND PAIL HOLDER 2 Sheets-Sheet 2 Filed Dec. 30, 1941 M I I H w Patented May 11, 1943 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE COMBDIATION PAmTBRUSH AND PAIL HOLDER 3 Claims.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a combination paint brush and pail holder.
The primary object of my invention is to provide a combination paint brush and paint holder, which may be constructed from wire or similar material and will afford a convenient and practical means of supporting a paint brush and pail on the side of a rung ladder or the top of a step ladder.
A further object of my invention is to provide a device of the character specified, which is simple and economical in construction, and highly efficient and durable in use.
With the foregoing and other objects in view that will appear as the nature of my invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts illustrated in the accompanying drawings and more particularly pointed out, in the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawings, which are for illustrative purposes only and are therefore not drawn to scale:
Figure 1 is a face view, illustrating the application of my invention to a rung ladder.
Figure 2 is a vertical transverse section, taken on line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a detail perspective view of the combination paint brush and pail holder per se.
Figure 4 is an eievational view, showing how my invention is applied to a step ladder, and Figure 5 is a detail perspective view, showing more particularly how the fastening hooks of the device illustrated in Figure 4 are engaged with the top rail of the step ladder.
Referring to the drawings for a more particular description of my invention, and in which drawings like parts are designated by like reference characters throughout the several views, A designates a rung ladder on which my combination paint brush and pail holder B may be hung or supported, C the paint brush and D the pail. It will be understood that the ladder, paint brush and pail may be of any ordinary or conventional type now on the market and constitute no part of my present invention.
My combination paint brush and pail holder is preferably constructed of several pieces of wire, one of which is bent to form the upper circular loop I, adapted to receive and encircle the pail D, and another of which is bent to form the central perpendicular U-shaped portion 2, whose upper ends are soldered or otherwise secured, as at 3, to the circular loop I, and whose 1 of the device, is soldered or otherwise secured,
as at 9, to the circular loop I, while the upper end of the'inner side bar III of said U-shaped member is also soldered, as at II, to the loop I, but extends somewhat above the latter and is bent to form a straight inwardly extending portion I2 terminating in a substantially U-shaped clip I3, adapted to encircle or embrace the adjacent rung I4 of the ladder.
A fourth piece of wire is bent to form a lower smaller loop I5 which rests on and is soldered to the cross bars 4 and 6. The loop I5 is not completely closed .and its spaced ends I8 are bent to form the inverted V-shaped clip II, which serves as the-brush holder. In practice, when the brush is not in use, it is inserted or positioned between the inverted V-shaped clip I I and the adjacent side members of the perpendicular U- shaped members 2 and I, respectively.
In the modified form of my invention illustrated in Figures 4 and 5 of the drawings, the device is provided with a pair of corresponding horizontal laterally spaced arms I 8, terminating at their free ends in the inwardly bent hooks I 9 adapted to hook over or engage the adjacent edge of the top rail 20 of a step ladder.
My device provides a convenient and practical means of supporting a paint brush and pail at one side rail of a rung ladder or from'the top rail of a step ladder.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the drawings, it is thought that the construction, operation and advantages of my invention will be readily understood, without requiring a more extended explanation.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A combination paint brush and pail holder, constructed from several separate pieces of wire fastened together, andcomprising an upper circular loop, intersecting perpendicular U-shaped members disposed at right angles to each other and a lower smaller loop having spaced ends bent to form a substantially inverted V-shaped clip, forming the brush holder in combination with the adjacent side members of the perpendicular U-shaped members.
2. A combination paint brush and nail holder,
constructed from several separate pieces of wire fastened together, and comprising an upper circular loop, intersecting perpendicular U-shaped members disposed at right angles to each other, and a lower smaller loop having spaced ends bent to form a substantially inverted V-shaped clip, forming the brush holder, in combination with the adjacent side members of the perpendicular U- shaped members the inner side bar of one oi! the perpendicular U shaped members extending above the upper circular loop and bent to form a clip adapted to encircle or embrace the rung of a ladder.
3. A combination paint brush and pail holder,
1 their free ends with inwardly bent hooks adapted to hook over or engage the top rail of a step ladder.
