Description

Feb. 15, 1949. I ow s 2,461,825
BUCKET HOLDER Filed. Oct; 18, 1947 INVENTOR. TED KUWAL SKI ATTYS.
Patented Feb. 15, 1949 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
This invention relates to article holding brackets for attaching to the steps of stepladders or other suitable support, and particularly to such a bracket adapted for the holding of buckets or cans containing paints or other materials.
The object of the invention is the provision of a simple and improved article holder of the class described which includes a bracket and a bucketholding frame detachably connected together in a manner to permit easy removal and separation thereof.
The invention is fully described in the following specification, and one embodiment thereof illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. 1 is a perspective fragmentary view of the top portion of a stepladder with a bucket-holder embodying the invention attached thereto; Fig. 2 is a front elevation thereof, with a bucket shown in dotted lines as mounted therein; Fig. 3 is a side view thereof with the step in section, and Fig. 4 is a bottom plan view thereof with the step fragmentarily shown.
Referring to the drawings, l designates the bracket member of the attachment and 2 the bucket-holder removably carried thereby.
The bracket l is preferably composed of a single piece of heavy stiff wire formed in U shape with its loop portion 3 disposed at its lower end with its legs 4, 1, laterally looped in parallel relation at their lower ends to form the horizontally disposed clamping portions 5, 5 for receiving a stepladder step or other board-like support 6. The clamping loops 5 open in the same direction and have parallel upper and lower sides for spring engagement with the board or step over which at top and bottom and at opposite sides is provided with radially projecting ears Hi vertically perforated to slidingly receive the upright portions of the bracket legs 4, 4. In this manner the holder 2 may be securely held to the bracket l during use or may be easily and quickly removed from engagement therewith either with a bucket mounted therein or alone, as desired.
I wish it understood that my invention is not limited to any specific construction, arrangement or form of the parts, as it is capable of numerous modifications and changes without departing from the spirit of the claim.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent, is:
A device of the class described comprising a bracket for attaching to a stepladder step or the like, and a bucket-holder carried by said bracket, said bracket comprising a single piece ofstiff wire forming spaced parallel uprights, a horizontally disposed board receiving and clamping loop at the lower end of each upright and a cross connecting portion between the lower members of the loops at the free ends thereof, and a separate cross brace rigidly connecting the lower members of said loops in'spaced relation to said first cross portion, and said bucket holder having an open top and being of cylindrical form and having ears projecting radially from opposite sides thereof and in engagement with respective uprights to retain the bucket-holder to the bracket.
they are engaged. The lower sides of these loops are connected in spaced relation to their ends with a cross-piece I through the central portion of which a clamping screw 3 is threaded. The free portions of the legs 4, 4 project upward from the free ends of the top sides of the respective clamping loops 5, 5, so as to provide parallel vertical upright portions.
The bucket-holder 2 is preferably of skeleton form with an open top to permit a paint bucket 9 or the like to be mounted therein. This holder is preferably cylindrical in form and of a size to receive and hold a gallon paint can. The holder TED KOWALSKI.
