4 Claims.
The present invention relates to shavers of r the type having 'an outer cuttinghead provided with spaced hair-receivingopenings and an inner cutter for shearing hair projecting through the openings. In'such shavers only part of the cutting head is open toreceive hair, and to perform a thorough shaving operation it is necessary that the user repeatedly move, the head back and forth over the skin surface.-
The object of my invention is to provide an improved shaver in which the cutting head is given a. power operated scanning movement so as to expose all-parts of the skin surface be-f heath the cutting head to the shaving" action.
For a consideration of what I believe novel appended thereto. 7 I
.In the accompanying drawing, Fig.1 is asectional front elevation of a shaver embodying my invention; Fig. 2 .is a sectional side elevation; and Fig. 3 is a'n'end view of the cutting'head partly broken away.-

Referring to the drawing, there is shown a shaver having a split casing comprising parts I and 2 clamped together by screws 3. Within the lower end of the casing is an electric motor having a shaft 4 driving-a transversely'extends v ing cam shaft 5 through bevel-gears 6 andfl and driving longitudinally-Qextending jshaftfs' through reduction gearing'Q, 10 f jIhe Loam I shaft {is Journaled inTbossesff-H 'andcarries LL -cfl p a t '1 d- 1 rocker arm's ';l4 pivoted on pinsfi'ikeiitending if ,betweedwsses l6. -{Bprate with the inner surface of the cutting head the operator does not have to move the head repeatedly over the skin surface since the entire surface is covered in a single pass.
Inaddition to the shaving which takes place at the center of the cutting head, there is also a clipping action due to the movement of -.the cutting head relative to the combs 29. This clipping action clips the outer ends of the hair so the shorter lengths will be more readily shaved. As shown in Fig. l the slots 22 extend partway down the side walls of the cutting head to pro- What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
