4 Claims.
This invention relates to a new and improved toilet paper holder and moistener, having as a principal object thereof to provide a device of this character wherein the paper will be automatically moistened and impregnated with a disinfectant and of such simple construction that it may be economically produced and readily secured in a fixed position.
To these and other ends, apparent from the following description and the accompanying drawing, the invention consists in the toilet paper holder and moistener, having certain details of construction and combinations of parts as will be hereinafter described and more particularly pointed out in the claims.
Referring to the drawing, wherein like numerals of reference indicate like parts in the several figures;
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved toilet paper holder and moistener secured to a fixed object, such as a wall; and
Figure 2 is a side elevation thereof.
The holder comprises in part a substantially U-shape frame, having two side arms H and I2, which terminate at their free ends in a coil portion, through whichproject fastening screw M to secure the holder to a wall or structure !3.
Extending across the open space between the arms II and I2 is a roll bar It), hinged at IS on the arm l2 between ears H5 at one end, and the opposite free end I! of which is held in a closed position by a clip [8 of any convenient construction. Upon the bar I0 is a roll R of toilet paper, the assembly of which is accomplished by slipping the roll over the bar after releasing it from the clip l8 and moving it into a convenient position at an angle to its position as shown in the draw ing, after which the roll bar In is restored to its former horizontal position and locked by the clip On that arm of the frame between the side arms H and i2 a reservoir is hinged at its upper end, at I9. This reservoir, which contains a liquid, which may be a disinfectant, is held against relative movement by the lock bars 28, that are mounted to move freely on the arms II and I2, and having a hooked engagement at their opposite ends with sockets 29, in a well known manner. The contents of the reservoir 20 may be emptied therefrom by swinging the same upon its hinged mounting to substantially the position shown by broken lines in Figure 2, after releasing the lock bars 28 from the sockets 29.
Upon each of the opposite ends of the reservoir 20 is a guide plate 2|, through which project the arms of the roll carrier 22. These arms are joined outside of and under the reservoir by the intermediate portion 26, which in its up position is held by a clip 21 or the like of substantially the same construction as the clip l8. The arms of the roll carrier 22, above the reservoir 20, are turned downwardly at 23 and inwardly at 24, upon which is rotatably mounted the transfer roll 25. The paper from the roll R, in substantially the position shown in the drawing, is passed under the roll 25 and torn off in lengths as desired.
If it is desired that the paper be moistened or impregnated, the roll 25 is released from its clip holder 26 and then falls by its weight onto the paper, which lowers the same into the liquid in the reservoir, the roll then being on the dotted line position substantially as shown in Figure 2 and the paper passed thereunder. The contact of the paper with this wet roll moistens the same before it is torn off.
A moistened or impregnated pad of paper may be obtained by first drawing off a sufficient length of moistened paper and then folding the same back onto itself as many times as desired. If it is preferred that the exterior of the pad be dry and the interior portion moistened or impregnated, then after the moistened paper has been folded into a pad, dry paper is taken from the,
roll and placed on the outside of the moistened portion in as many layers as may seem expedient.
Within the scope of the appended claims, minor changes and alterations may be made in the preferred embodiment of the invention disclosed herein.
What is claimed is:
1. In a toilet paper holder and moistener; a frame; means for securing the same in a fixed position; a roll bar hinged thereon; a reservoir hinged thereon; a transfer roll movably connected with the reservoir; and means for holding the transfer roll in a position above the liquid in the reservoir.
2. In atoilet paper holder and moistener; a frame; means for securing the same in a fixed position; a roll bar hinged thereon; a reservoir hinged thereon; a roll carrier movably mounted project upwardly from a bottom portion upon each side of the reservoir and through the guide plates upon the sidesthereof; and a transfer r011 supported by the said arms across the open end position; a roll bar hinged thereon; a reservoir 5 of the reservoir.
hinged thereon; a guide plate at opposite ends of the reservoir; a roll carrier formed with arms that JOSEPH GARSON.
