Description

Jan. 18, 1949. c. J. STRAHAN 2,459,252
ROLLED TOILET PAPEB CABINET AND' DISPENSER Filed Au 14, 1945 Patented Jan. 18, 1949 UNITED ROLLED TOILET PAPER CABINET AND DISPENSER Charles Ju Strahan, Milton, Pa.
Application August 14, 1945, Serial No. 610,826
The invention relates to a cabinet and dispenser, and more especially to rolled toilet paper cabinet and dispenser.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a structure of this character Wherein toilet paper rolls of a determined number can be Conveniently stored therein and one of the rolls held for the dispensing of the sheets thereof for use, the structure being novel in its set-up and unique in the assembly thereof.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a structure of this character, wherein the stored rolls of toilet paper will be unobtrusive in appearance and are readily accessible for the acquiring thereof, while the roll when out of service is normally partially conc'ealed and when desi'ed for service can be brought to a position for the removal of the sheets from such roll with ease and dispatch.
A further object of theinvention is the provision of a structure of this character, which is simple in its construction, thoroughly reliable and eflicient in operation, neat and attractive in appearance, susceptible of being hung from a vertical support, readily accessible for the storage of toilet paper rolls and for the servicing thereof, possessed of few parts, strong. durable, and inexpensive to manufacture. u
These and other objects in view, the inven tion consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanyng drawings, which disclose the preferred embodiment of the invention and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.
In the accompanying drawing- Figure 1 is a side elevation of the structure construc'ted in accordance with the invention. showing the front door thereof in open position, While by full line is shown the normal dispensing position of the toilet paper roll and by dotted lines the partially concealed or non-servicing position thereof. i
Figura 2 is a front elevation having the lower portion partly broken away.
Figure 3 is an end View of the dispensing roll holder.
Figure 4 is an elevation of the structure shown in Figure 3.
Figure 5 is a side View of the runway for the dispensin g roll holdijg'j Figura 6 is a 'sectional view on the line 6-5 of Figure 5 showing by' dotted lines ragmentarily a portion of the roll holder fitted therewith.
Similar reference characters indicate corre- 3 Clams. (Cl. 242-552) sponding parts throughout the several views of the drawings.
Referring to the drawings in detail, A. designates generally a cabinet, which is in the form of an elongated or substantially rectangular shaped box-like case !0, which is permanently closed at opposite sides, back bottom, top and the major upper portion of the open front of this case is adapted to be closed by a hinged door ll horizontally swingable on hinges l2 and provided exteriorly thereof with a hand knob grip !3 for the manual opening and closing of such door. This door ll is the front area to an upper compartment within the case !0 in which is adapted to be stored, readily accessible toilet paper rolls within the cabinet A.
Below the door and built within the cabinet A is a horizontally arranged dividing partition |4 creating in the minor lower portion of such case I!! a recess or pocket !5 fully open through the open front of the cabinet A below the partition !4 for accommodating therein a single roll 16 of toilet paper which is adapted for detachable mounting on a spool IT constituting a holder therefor. This spool is fixed to a runner 18 slidably fitted in a runway guide &9 counterseated in one side of the pocket !5 or one side wall of the case n, as best seen in Figures 1, 2, 5 and 6 of the drawings.
The runner !8 permits the spool l'l to be pulled outwardly a determined distance from within the recess or pocket l5 so as to more fully expose the roll of toilet paper I 6, as best seen in Figure 1 of the drawings, whereby its sheets can be more readily utilized for toilet purposes.
The runner !8 carrying the roll !6 when not in use can be pushed inwardly in the guide !9 to be partially concealed in the recess or pocket |5 as best seen in Figura 1 of the drawings.
The cabinet A is designed for the storage of rolled toiled paper and also for dispensing the sheets of a single roll thereof as hereinbefore stated.
What is claimed is:
1. A roll paper dispenser comprising a box-like chamber open at its front and having side walls,
one of said side walls having a channel extendinglongitudinally thereof, a plate slidable in said channel, a cantilever paper roll supporting spool extending from said plate, said spool and paper roll being partially recessed in said chamber when said plate is at its innermost channel position and supported, exteriorly of said chamber when said plate is at its outermost channel position.
2. A roll paper dispenser comprising a box-like chamber open at its front and having side walls, one of said side walls having a channel extending longitudinally the'eof, a plate slidable in said channel, a cantilever paper roll supporting spool extending from said plate, said spool and paper roll being partially recessed in said chamber when said plate is at its innermost channel position and supported exteriorly of said chamber When said plate is at its outermost channel position, said channel being recessed in said side wall' and having inturned fianges, said fianges retaining said plate in said channel.
3. A roll paper dispense' comprising. a box-.like
chamber open at its front and having side wa=Ils` one of said side walls having a channel extending longitudinally thereof, a plate slidable in 'said channel, a cantilever paper roll supporting, spool extending from said plate, said spool and paper roll being partially recessed in said chamber'when and supported exteriorly of said chamber when said plate is at its outermost channel position,
said channel being recessed in said side wall and REFERENCES CITED v The follow-ing, teferences are of record in the file of this patent:
