Description
0.. SOHERIGH. Ticket-Holder.
No. 228,280. Patented June 1,1880.
Y Witnesses:
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GHRISTIAN SOHERIOH, OF LISBURN, PENNSYLVANIA.
TICKET-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 228,280, dated June 1, 1880.
Application filed February 13, 1880.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHRISTIAN SoHERIoH, of Lisburn, county of Cumberland, Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ticket Holders or Presentrs, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to make a cheap and convenient ticket-holder which will rapidly present single tickets to the hand of the operator.
My invention consists of abox provided with adjustable guard-plates, in combination with a lever pivoted to the bottom of said box and operated by means of a slide-rod and coiled spring, as will be fully understood by the accompanyin g drawings and description.
In the accompanying drawings Figure l is a perspective view of my'ticket-holder. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same. Fig. 3 is a vertical section thereof on the line a :20, Fig. 2, showing the slide-rod and coiled spring.
In constructing my ticket holder or presenter the box may be very simple, having a bottom, A, and sides B B, to the front of which are attached the adjustable guard-plates G, heh by set-screws H, as shown in Fig. 1. 0n the bottom of the box is a pivoted lever, D, Fig. 2, arranged to move as indicated in dotted lines. A slide-rod, E,is connected with this lever, and provided with a coiled spring, F, for operating the lever D.
The pii of cards is placed in the box and pressed g ntly down by the weight 0, Fig. 1.
Operati n: The hand of the operator is placed as .ndicated in dotted lines, Fig. 2, the large or middle finger being used to push back the slide-rod E, while the thumb and index-finger seize the ticket as it is brought forward or presented for withdrawal. As the ticket is taken away and the rod or its fingerpiece 0 is relieved from pressure the coiled spring pushes back the slide-rod and vibrating lever to catch another card.
By this simple machine an expert operator can withdraw tickets very rapidly and with certainty.
The guard-plates Gr must be set according to the thickness of the tickets to be used, and the ticket-holder must be fastened to a table or other support by screws 1, Fig. 2.
My ticketholder is very simple, cheap, convenient, and durable.
' The position of the slide-rod E and thumbpiece, or rather finger-piece, e, in relation to the pile of tickets is such that the thumb and index-finger easily seize the ticket when thrust out. By this arrangement the ticket is projected forward and also seized at the same moment and by the same hand. Therefore, while I do not broadly claim the separate devices above described, I believe my invention is a substantial improvement.
Having described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
A ticket-holder consisting of the box A B, adjustable guard-plates G, the lever D, pivoted at the bottom and rear of the box, and working in the plane of the lowermost ticket in the box, the push-rod E, and spring F, all constructed substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CHRISTIAN SOHERIOH.
