Description

' S. WELLS.v
Ironing-Tables. No. 226,214, Patented April 6; 1880.
h a l WITNESSES v IIIWENTOR WfiM mmzww AT oRN EY$ NJETERS, PHOTO-UTHOGRAPHER, WASHKNGTON D c Darren Sterne PATENT rrrnnt SETH WELLS, OF PARSONS, KANSAS.
lRONlNG-TABLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 226,214, dated April 6, 1880.
Application filed May 24, 1879.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, SETH YVELLs, of Parsons, in the county of Labette and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ironing-Tables and I do hereby declare that thefollowing is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
The figure of the drawing is a representation of a erspective of my ironing-table.
h invention relates to ironing-tables and it consists in the improvements in the construction of the same hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
L is the ironing-board. B B are strips attacned to the ironing-board and dovetailed to receive and retain the bosom-board O, which is provided with the sad-iron plate 0. The legs D are hinged to the flange-pieces d, which are attached to the ironing-board and strips 13. The legs D are pivoted to the legs D, and
properly fitted to the recesses cl of the ironing-board, so as to hold the same firmly in a horizontal position.
E is a clothes-rack, consisting of the uprights 6, the horizontals e, and the cross-bars 6 This clothes-rack is attached to the ironing-board by the loops 6 e", which embrace the lower cross-bars and retain the clothes-rack in position. The loops 0 are longer than the others, by which means the rack may be folded down upon the table or ironingboard and the hooks F engaged with the staples f, thus retaining the legs and rack in a folded position. The pivoted legs D fold inside of the legs D, and the rack folds closely down upon theironin g-board, thus reducing the device to the smallest compass for storing when not in use.
The setting up of the device for use is simple. The structure is substantial, and is a convenient arrangement of ironing-board and clothes-rack.
I am aware that an ironing-table with a folding clothesraek is not broadly new. also aware that a sliding sleeve-board has been used in connection with an ironing-table, and I make no broad claim to either of said constructions.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the ironing-board A, having on its under side the pivoted cross-legs D D, and the notches d, 'with the folding clothes-rack 'E, pivoted on the board A, and adapted, substantially as described, to fold down upon the upper side of said board, the cross-legs folding against the under side thereof, as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
SETH WELLS. Witnesses:
E. TANNER, N. M. MILLER.
