M. COHEN SKIRT DISPLAY FORM Filed Dec. 17, 1940 llnnlinlllnllinfllinl v IIIIIIiIIiIII Patented Sept. 16, 1941 UNITED STATES PAT FFECE 1 Claim.
My invention relates to a skirt display form.
An important object of the invention is to provide a skirt display form which is adapted to be mounted upon a bracket or stand and will substantially cover the bracket or stand from view.
A further object of the invention is to provide a skirt display form which is extremely simple and so constructed that the skirt may be placed thereon and secured thereto by means of pins or the like which will not be visible from the front of the display form.
A further object of the invention is to provide a display form having a body portion so constructed that the skirt may be pinned to the same in a convenient manner and the points of the pins may be covered for eliminating injury to the customers or the like.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent during the course of the following description.
A still further object resides in the provision of a skirt display form that may be used to display childrens as well as ladies and misses skirts, by varying the size of the form.
In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this application and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a skirt display form embodying my invention, having the skirt applied thereto,
Figure 2 is a rear elevation of the same,
Figure 3 is an enlarged detailed section taken on line 3-3 of Figure 2,
Figure 4 is a rear elevation of the display form removed from the stand,
Figure 5 is a front elevation of the display form removed, parts broken away, and,
Figure 6 is an enlarged vertical section taken on line 6'5 of Figure 2.
In the drawing, wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral Ill designates a skirt display form, which preferably tapers upwardly, and has its lower end I I rounded. The upper end of the form I is preferably slightly concave, as shown at I2. The form I 0 is flat, stiff, and light, and is formed of corrugated cardboard, thereby including outer layers or plates I3, which are spaced and flat, with an inner horizontally corrugated layer I 5, secured to the layers I3 by glue or the like. The spacing of the layers I 4 provides a passage or chamber I between the layers. The marginal edges of the layers I3 extend beyond the corrugated inner layer I4 and are brought together in contacting relation, and are secured together along a line I5, by stitching, by brads, glue or the like. The marginal edges are also covered by a tape or strip I6, se-
cured to the same by a line of stitching IT, or by staples, glue, or the like.
The numeral I8 designates hooks, arranged upon the rear side of the form I0 and secured to the same by eyelets or rivets I9, passing through the form, as shown. These hooks are disposed at an elevation below the upper end of the form I0, as shown.
The numeral 20 designates a stand, including a base or foot ZI, a tubular body portion 22 and a vertical rod 23, slidable within the tubular body portion 22 and clamped to the tubular body portion by a set screw 24, in the selected adjusted position. At. its upper end, the vertical rod 23 carries a horizontal rod 25, shorter than the width of the upper end of the form I 0 and this rod receives the hooks I'8 thereon.
In the use of the device, the display form I0 is arranged at the front of the stand, and its hooks I8 are mounted upon the horizontal rod 25. The skirt, doubled upon itself, is draped over the front face of the form I0 and extended over the rear face of the same and the rear edges of the skirt are attached to the form ID by pins 26. These pins, Figure 3, are inserted through the skirt and the rear layer I3 of the form and enter the space or chamber I5 and it is not intended that the pins should penetrate the front layer I 3 but their points should be confined within the space I5. These pins 20 are inclined outwardly toward their free ends and being angularly disposed with their free ends resting against the inner face of the front layer while the pin passes through the rear layer, will afford a strong and stiff connection between the skirt and form without liability of the point of the pin passing exteriorly to the front of the form. Further, the stand terminates at a point beneath the top of the form and the form covers practically all of the stand or it may be lowered to completely cover it, from a front view. It is thus seen that I have provided a skirt display form which is light, extremely simple, and one which may have the skirt attached thereto by means of pins Without liability of the pins injuring the customers or the like.
It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same and that various changes in the shape, size, and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of my invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.
Having thus described my invention, claim is:
A skirt display form comprising an elongated body portion to be vertically arranged in use and adapted to have the skirt applied to its front side, a stand to be arranged at the rear of the body what I portion and terminating at its upper end at an elevation substantially beneath the top of the body portion, said stand including a vertical rod and a horizontal rod carried thereby, and a pair of hooks secured to the body portion and disposed upon its rear side and at an elevation substantially beneath the top of the body portion, said hooks being spaced so that they may be mounted upon the horizontal rod upon opposite sides of the vertical rod, to entirely conceal the horizontal rod as Well as the upper portion of the vertical rod of said-stand.
