Description
UNTTED STATES PATENT @FFTQE ALONZO \VARNER AND CYRUS A. WARNER, OF BRISTOL, CONNECTICUT.
CATCH FOR IEIAIYI'G'IN61 IDBAPERY.
Specification of Letters Patent No. 22,521, dated January 4, 1859.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, ALoNzo VVARNER and CYRUS A. VVARNER, of Bristol, county of IIartford, and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improveients in Fastening or Hanging Drapery; and we do hereby declare that the same is described and represented in the following specification and drawings; and to enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same we will proceed to describe the construction and operation, referring to the drawings, in which the same letters indicate like parts in each of the figures.
The nature of this improvement consists in securing wood or metallic springs or holders upon a bedstead rail or other places, where desirable for the purpose of holding drapery, &c.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 shows a side view of a bedstead rail with drapery attached thereto by our improved fasteners. Fig. 2 is an end view, showing the shape of the fastenings and the manner of holding the drapery, and also how they are fastened in place in readiness to receive the drapery.
it, represents a bedstead rail; B,the fastenings; C, the screw by which they are secured; E, the cord drawn into the hem of the drapery and by which it is more firmly and securely held. The fastener B, is coiled on the lower end so as to allow the hem to be more easily inserted and removed, when desirable, without injury to the drapery. By the use of these fasteners the drapery may be removed and replaced with the greatest ease, and also produce a feeling of satisfaction in doing it, as well as giving a pleasing appearance when done, thus doing away with the ordinary way or mode of tacking or sewing the drapery to webbing fastened by tacks, which in very many instances have made rents in clothes by not having been driven in closely. By this device all such accidents, with their cause, are timely removed, and their occurrence prevented, thus showing its true merit and ad vantage derived thereby over other modes of fastening drapery now in use.
lVe do not claim the device of S. R. C. Denison patented Aug. 5/56, nor that of D. N. B. Collin June 9/57; but
Vhat we claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent for hanging drapery is The spring catch B, as a new and improved article of manufacture constructed as and for the purpose specified.
