Another object of my invention is to produce a device of this oharacter which is providecl With a simple self-looking retaining means that can be released or adjusted at will with ease and speed and which will permit the adjustable extension of any desired kind of tool for different praotical uses in many instances.

Another objer;t of my invention is to produce a device of this character wherein an interchangeable tool may be held firmly in dilferent positions for desire'd depth o1 cut and special uses, and may be maintained in good working condition.

Another object of my invention is to produce a device of this charaoter whioh is designed 015 a minimum number of component parts which Will permit various modifications in construc tion, which is providecl With a simple means for attachment or for hanging up, whioh will also afford a tension clip so that may be readily and conveniently disposecl of.

With these and other objects and advantages in view, the mechanical features of construction combination and arrangements of parts of the devioes of my invention will be clearly described hereinafter, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which disolose the preferrecl embodiments of my invention.

Now referring to the drawing:

Figure 1 is a longitudinal cross-section of one preferred form of devices of my invention showing a suitable razor blade arranged in preferred position.

Figure 2 is a longitudinal cross-section of another preferred example of devioes without=a loop, showing a file in attached position.

Throughout the several views of the preferred forms of my devices in the drawing forming a part of this specification like numerals designate like parts.

The combination handle and holder constituting the subject-matter of this invention comprises a tubular oasing I which ispreferably formed of a single strand of wire coiled as shown, providing a positive grip for the band of the operator. Ahook 2 is formed at one end, suitably shaped and positioned so that a razor blade 5, or any tool, or work piece, may be held firmly in plaoe. The retaining hook is of the snap-on type, holding the b1ade or tool firmly under tension, yet capable of quick release or adjustment. A loop 3 in the other end of the casing provides means for attachment to a key ring, etc., or for hanging it up. This loop may also be moved and suitably arranged to provide a tension clip, as indicated by the dotted lines 4, for quick attachment, in a large number of instances, so that the device may be readily and oonveniently disposed of. In a modified embodiment of the invention Which is likewise capable of embodiment in other and varied constructional forms, similar to that as shown by Fig. 2, a file is securely held in working position While one end of the holder is closed. The file is formed with a suitable opening er notch 6 to receive the hook 2. In Fig. 3, an interchangeable cutter is formed with several openings suitably spaced from each other, to facilitate the adjustable extension of. the cutter o1 any tool that may be employed for special or general uses in connection with the combination handle and holder. In Fig. 4, an interchangeable file is adapted. for delicate work and for attachment to the handle and holder. In Fig. 5, an interchangeable saw is adapted for attachment to the handle and holder. Figs. 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 show the preferred shapes respecting the cross-section of the devices of my invention.

In order to make the tubular casing, or any constructional portion thereof entirely rigid with any desired coating or finish, the surface of the material should be properly treated with a suitable chemical solution that Will render the material metallic clean without attacking er injuring the mechanical strength of the construction. By passing the casing through a bath of suitable solder, the desired rigid structure may be obtained. 'Ihe device may be plated, enameled, rubberized with a most attractive finish. During and after the process of soldering 0r in the course of other treatments, special care should be taken to maintain the normal condition, and when desired, the fiuted appearance of the clevices.

In operation, my clevice can be easily manipulated. It commends itself by reason of its simplicity, adjustability, pleasing appearance and 10W cost. It may be employed for countless practical uses in the home, workshop, office and. factory, as it is "Widely adaptable to almost every kind of small tool, work pieces and other objects.

It is to be understood that the preferred embodiments and form of my invention herewith described and shown in the accompanying drawing are to be taken as illustrative and not limitative thereof and that various changes relative to materiali,- s'lZe, shape, details of construction, modifications, combination and arrangements of parts may be resorted to Without departing from the spirit of the invention 01 the scope of the subjoined claim.

Having thus described my invention, I elaim:

In a, device of the character described, the combination of a tubular casing and a tool, said tubular casing produced of a Single strand 0f wire and adapted for engaging With said tool, said tool having an opening, said tubular casing having a movable hook at one end projecting through said opening of seid tool, said movable hook of said. tubular casing adapted for retaining seid tool under tension in any position permitting adjustment for locking and holding said tool in its selected position.
