This invention relates to hygienic stands particularly adapted to meet Vthe requirements of feminine hygiene and constructed to present a xture in the nature of those used in bathrooms.

One of the important aims of this invention is the provision of a stand of the aforementioned character that has as a part thereof, a specially formed vseat which has a basin contoured to be straddled and which supports an upwardly and rearwardly inclined nozzle communicating with a source of fluid supply so that an veffective vaginal doucheV may be taken by the user when' comfortablyv positioned upon the seat.

Another important object of this invention is' l5 to provide a permanent fixture usable as a means for meeting the requirements of feminine hygiene, which fixture is connected to the conventional drain of a plumbing system and likewise is connected to the water supply system of the building wherein the stand is installed.

A yet further aim of this invention is to provide a hygienic stand. wherein is incorporated a douche nozzle having means for introducing an antiseptic into the fluid entering said nozzle; having a flexible length or coupling adjacent to the base of the nozzle, whereby its angle of inclination may be suitably varied by its user; and being secured to a fluid supply pipe in such fashion as to permit interchanging of the nozzle.

Heretofore, the equipment in modern bathrooms has not included means for meeting the requirements of feminine hygiene and as a result thereof, the occupants of dwellings and the guests in hotel rooms, have been required to .resort to unsanitary, undesirable land oftentimes, dangerous devices. This invention contemplates the use of a neatly-designed stand that will match the xtures conventionally used in a bathroom and which may be installed after the building has been occupied for a length of time, or when constructing new hotels or dwellings, the requirements incident to installation being merely access to a drain and to a source of water.

A large number of important, minor objects of this invention will appear during the course of the following specification, referring to the accompanying drawing wherein:

Figure 1 is an elevational view of the hygienic stand made to embody the present invention.

The xture embodying the preferred form of this invention comprises a straddle stand 8, the upper portion of which is developed into a basin I0, the upper rim I2 of which is contoured to form a seat.

Basin I0 has a reduced portion I4 at the normally forward part thereof and the upwardly extending continuous wall I6, which combines with bottom I8 in creating basin Ill, is higher at the normally back part of the basin than it is at the reduced portion I4 thereof.

Bottom I8 has a drain opening 2,0 formed at the lowermost'point thereon and a drain pipe 22 extends from drain opening 2|)A to any part of the drainage system of the building wherein the standv is placed. A ysupply pipe 24 extends upwardly through the base of stand 8 with drain pipe 22 to the end that neither pipe 22 nor pipe 24 is visible when proper installation has'been made. The upper end of supply pipe 24 is extended through an opening 26 in bottom I8 of basin I0, and a conventional valve 28 carried by pipe 24 controls the passage of water or other fluid therethrough.

A specially formed nozzle 3D is selcured'to the upper end of pipe 24 through the medium of a flexible length or coupling 3| which'is made of rubber or other suitable substance, which may be flexed to permit disposing nozzle 30 at the desired angle of inclination.

Coupling 3| has a reservoir 32 in communication therewith and this reservoir may be formed to extend laterally from coupling 3|, as illustrated in Fig. 4. The free end of reservoir 32 is provided with a nipple 34 which is internally threaded as `[at 36 and externally threaded as at 38. A cap 40 may be moved to position to close the free end of reservoir 32 when antiseptics of powder or crystal form are introduced into reservoir 32.

When it is desired to gradually feed a liquid antiseptic into reservoir 32, the bulb type injector 42 shown in Fig. 6 may be screw threaded into engagement with nipple 34 through the medium of externally threaded neck 44.

Reservoir 32 has a foraminous portion 4E extending into the passage through coupling 3|. This portion 4B may be made of ordinary fine mesh screen, wire or gauze, for the purpose of permitting dissolving of the powdered or crystalline antiseptic which is introduced into reservoir 32.

A shield 43 is mounted upon nozzle 30 for sliding movement along the length thereof and this shield is preferably in the nature of a soft, rubber dam which may `assist nozzle 30 in periodically, completely closing the external orlce of the genital canel when the stand is in use.

Nozzle l3l) is in screw-threaded attachment with scoupling 50 so that the nozzle may be renewedl as often as desired, or in some instances, the nozzle may be carried as a piece of personal equipment and used with the hygienic stand Wherever the same is available.

Nozzle 3l) has a number of perforations 52 and 54 in the nature of slots and round holes respectively, through which the fluid passing thereto through pipe 24, valve 28 and coupling 3|,

may escape.

In use the stand should mit easy mounting. Nozzle 30 is normally in place as illustrated in Fig. 2 and therefore, when the reduced portion I4 of basin I0 is vstraddled by the user, nozzle 30 is in position to enter the vagina as the user lowers herself to a place where the weight of the .body is resting upon the rim of wall I5. The arched contour, shown in Figs. 1 and 2, is such as to receive the body and the height of wall I6 at the back of basin l0, is sufficient to establish a normal, unstrained condition when the basin is serving as a seat. The flexible length or coupling 3| may be manipulated by the user to vary the angle of inclination so that as -the genitals are positioned directly over basin I0, nozzle 30 may be caused to assume an angle peculiarly adapted to the individual.

Valve 28 may be manipulated by the user, and as water passes into nozzle 30 from pipe 24, the antiseptic in reservoir 32 becomes a part of the internal bath because of the relation between reservoir 32 and coupling 3|.

When powdered or crystalline antiseptic is used the inclined position of reservoir will cause it to flow by gravity into the foraminous portion 46 where the water or fluid may come into contact therewith. The liquid antiseptic may be gradually introduced into the stream of water flowing to nozzle 30 because injector 42 may be compressed as rapidly as the user desires.

vA stand embodying this invention may be what is known to the trade as wall type fixture or it may be constructed as illustrated, so that it rests directly upon the floor of the room.

The preferred embodiment of the hygienic stand has been illustrated and described, but it is desired to be limited in the embodiment of the invention only by the spirit thereof and scope of the appended claims.

1. A device of the character described comprising a hollow stand extending vertically an appreciable distance from the floor; a basin formed on the stand at the upper end thereof having a portion thereof reduced in width and contoured to fit between the legs of the user at the crotch when in a `standing position, and a relatively wide portion adapted to support the user when in a standing position; a drain pipe, extending through the stand, in communication with the basin; and a nozzle in the reduced portion of the basin extending upwardly and toward the relatively wide portion thereof, said nozzle having connection with a source of fluid, the upper edge of the basin `being concave to t the body and hold the latter yabove the bottom of the basin.

2. A device of the character described comprising a hollow stand extending vertically an appreciable distance fromfthe floor; 'a basin. having a portion thereof reduced in width and ,contoured to t between the legs of the user at the crotch when in a standing position, and a relatively wide portion having a concave edge adapted to support the user when in a standing position; a

drain pipe, extending through the stand, in communication with the basin; and a nozzle in the reduced portion of the basin extending upwardly and toward the relatively wide portion thereof, said nozzle having a flexible coupling ltherein whereby to selectively vary the angle of inclination thereof. 3. A hygienic stand of the character described comprising a hollow, narrow stand extending upwardly from the oor to a .point substantially at the crotch of the user when standing; a basin integral with the stand at the upper end thereof serving as aseat for supporting the user and having a radially projecting portion of relatively narrow character adapted to be straddled by the user when on the basin; a drain pipe extending through the stand into connection with the basin; ra liquid supply pipe extexling through the stand to a point within the basin; vand a nozzle on the `-supply pipe, said nozzle having a flexible coupling therein vand projecting upwardly and rearwardly from a vpoint in the relatively narrow portion, the upper edge of said basin being higher along the part thereof :diametrically opposite to the narrow .portion and having opposite concave faces between the narrow portion and the higher part thereof.
