WILLIAM D. MIDDLETON, OF ELKHART, INDIANA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF OF HIS RIGHT TO WESLEY MIDDLETON, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVE-MENT IN STOVE-PIPE SHELVES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 221,086, dated October 28, 1879; application led May 23, 1879.

r This invention relates to stove-pipe shelves; and it consists in certain improvements in the construction ofthe same, which will be hereinafter fully described, and particularlypollited out in the claim.
In the drawings, A represents the stovepipe, upon which the shelf-support is adjusted. The latter consists of two sections,BB, which, when put in position, present together the appearance of two bands, one, C, encircling the stove-pipe, and the other, D, arranged above band C, at right angles thereto, and at some distance from the stove-pipe. The bands C D are connected together by brackets E, and the two sections B B are secured together by nuts and bolts passing through the outer brackets, E, as shown.
y The stove-pipe shelf consists of four segmental sections, F, each adapted to rest upon the band D, and provided at its inner end with a downward 'projecting bracket, Gr, iitting closelyT against the stove-pipe and strengthened by a flange, H, of such a width as tov lit between the stove-pipe and the band D. The lower ends of the bracket Gr are turned inwardly to form catches I, catching under the band O, and thereby holding the shelfsections rmly in position.
The operation of my invention will be readily understood. The shelf-sections are easily adjustable or detachable, and may, when not lin use, be hung up out of the Way. The parts are preferably made of openwork cast-iron, but other material may be used.
Having thus described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States The combination, with the sh elf-support consisting, essentially, of the bands O D and brackets E, of the segmental shelf-sections F, having brackets G, provided with catches I and flanges H, as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
