(Cl. 19===131) This invention relates to mechanism for drawing fibers in textile machines and more particu= larly to improvements in the cradles which carry the belts of high draft apparatus for spinning and like machines.
These cradles usually comprise two lateral plates suitably connected together by transverse members and provided with U shaped or like recesses which fit over the rollers around which the belts pass at the rear and with slots to receive the non-rotatable bars or rods around which the belts pass at the front.
According to the present invention the cradle is formed in two parts the side plates of the lower part being formed with recesses to fit over the roller oi the bottom belt and with slots to carry the non-rotatable bar or rod around which the bottom belt passes at the front and the side plates of the upper part being formed with re cesses to receive the roller of the top belt and carrying the non-rotatable bar or red around which the top-belt passes at the front.
The invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which;

The side walls a of the lower member A are connected together by the transverse members a a and each wall is formed with a recess A to 5 fit over the roller C of the bottom belt C and a slot 0, to carry the non-rotatable bar or rod D over which the bottom belt C passes at the front. The slots a are preferably inclined as shown to give the required inclination to the bar D. The
50 bar D is preferably somewhat tapered as shown in Fig. 9 and is provided near one end with a recess d which engages in one or other of the slots a to prevent lateral movement of the bar when in position. The recess :1 is of such a depth that 55 when the bar D is in position the outer edge of the latter will lie at right angles to the walls CL and parallel to the surface of the belt.
The side walls 12 of the upper member B are connected together by the fixed bar D at the front around which the top belt E passes. Alternatively they may be connected together by a suitable transverse member and be provided with 5 slots to receivethe bar around which the top belt passes. The side walls b are formed with recesses B to receive the top roller E. i
The lower edge b of each side I) of the upper member is bent outwards as shown in Figs. 3 and 10 t so that when the two parts are assembled together the lower edge I) will fit over the top edges of the sides a of the lower member to prevent lateral movement of one member relative to the other;
Relative longitudinal movement between the two members is prevented by a projection 11 on the upper edges of the sides of the lower member which engage in corresponding recesses 12 in the lower edges of the upper member.
A cradle A constructed in two parts A and B p as above described enables the top belt E and its roller E to be removed from the machine without removing the bottom belt C and roller C which facilitates cleaning of the belts and also the replacing of the belts, in position in the cradle since each belt can be replaced independently of the other before the two parts of the cradle are assembled together. Moreover the top member, a belt and roller can be removed from the machine for replacement without disturbing the bottom member.
What I claim as my invention and desire to protect by Letters Patent is: '14- A cradle formed in two parts-an upper part and a lower part-i01- carrying the top and bot-= tom belts of high draft apparatus for spinning and like machines, said beltspassing over a top and bottom roller respectivel r'comprising the combination with a plate at; each side of the upper part and a plate at each side of the lower part of an outwardly formed flange on the lower edge of each side plate of the upper part to flt over the upper edges of the' lside plates of the I lower part and prevent lateral movement between the two parts, projections on the upper edges of the side plates of the lower partand corresponding recesses in the lower edges of the side plates of the upper part to receive said projections and prevent longitudinal movement between the two parts without preventing the upper part from being lifted directly off the lower part in a direction perpendicular to the line of contact 01' the two belts.
