My invention relates to a vanity case adapted to successfullyhold the usual dry cosmetics such as powder or rouge and also liquid saturated cleansing pads.

Heretofore vanity cases have been constructed to hold only dry materials such as powder and rouge. Recently however cleansing pads saturated with liquid cleansing lotion have been introduced and immediately accepted by cosmetic,

users. These cleansing pads are made of thin fabric and are impregnated withliquid. They are particularly for use when the user" has no other toilet facilities available. It is therefore essential that the cleansing pads be carried by the user in a container that is air and water tight so as to prevent. the evaporation of the liquid in the pads. A separate air and water tight vanity case for the cleansing pads involves the serious objection that the user does not care to add another vanity case to her already over- 25 crowded purse or hand bag. The ordinary vanity case already in use for dry materials such as powder and rouge is so constructed that it is neither air nor water tight. I have conducted tests by placing wet cleansing pads in the vanity cases already in use and have found that the cleansing pads not only dry out by evaporation of the liquid therein and become useless but also that the dry powder and rouge in the vanity cases absorb the liquid from the pads and 35 also become worthless for use,

Among theobjects of this invention is to create a vanity case adapted to hold as a unit both dry materials such as powder and rouge and wet materials such as cleansing pads saturated 40 with volatile lotion, without the one affecting the other. My vanity case has a compartment for the storage of liquid impregnated cleansing pads which is air and Water tight, so as to prevent the evaporation of the liquid in. the pads-- 45 thus keeping them fresh and useful. My sealed compartment will also protect the dry materials from being affected and ruined by exposure to the moisture in the wet pads. My in- 5 vention contemplates such other objects, ad-

Referring to the embodiment selected to 111-? lustrate my invention, my vanity case comprises a pair of oppositely disposed body portions or containers l0 and I I each having walls l2 and a base l3, said walls and base forming on their inner portions the containers. A hinge I4 attached to walls of each of said body portions H) and H permits them to swing together to open and close the vanity case. One of said containers I0 is adapted to hold dry material 35 such as rouge, powder or the like. The dry material may be attached in the form of a compact to the inside base It of the container or it may be loose andheld within the container by a powder puff, screen, door or any suitable means, the form of which we are not concerned with in this application.

The other container H is adapted to hold a plurality of liquid saturated cleansing pads 36. It is essential that a closure be provided that upon closing will seal the container ll so that inner surface or a gasket I'l around its edges or rubber or the like so that when the door is closed the lining IE or gasket ll will compress against it and form a perfect seal on the inner walls I2 or container IL Another means of forming the seal is to provide a member l8 of rubber or the like attached to the inner walls of the container or extending from the bottom so that when the door i5 is closed it will form aperfect seal against member [8. The interior of member I8 is hollow to receive the pads 36.

Having thus described my invention, I claim:

1. A Vanity case comprising a pair of oppositely disposed hollow body portions, hinge means attached to each of said body portions to permit them to swing to and from each other to open and closed positions, one of said body portions of sufficient depth to hold dry cosmetics, the other of said body portions of sufiicient depth to hold liquid saturated pads, a door positioned between said body portions and hinged to the body portion for holding the Wet pads, said door swingable on its hinge to open and close the that as said door is moved to closed position the compressible material will compress against the inner walls of the body portion holding the wet pads and form a seal for protecting the wet pads therein from evaporation and the dry cosmetics in the other body portion from absorbing liquid from the wet pads in the body portion holding the same.

2.'A vanity case comprising a pair of oppositely dispose-d hollow bodyportions, hinge means attached to each of said body portions to permit them to swing to and from each other to open and closed positions, one of said body portions of sufficient depth to hold dry cosmetics,

the other of said body portions of sufficient depth to hold liquid saturated: pads, a door positioned between said body portions and hinged to the body portions for holding the wet pads,-said door swingable on its hinge to open and close the body portion holding the wet pads, compressible material attached to the inner walls of the body portion holding the wet pads, so that as said door is moved to closed position the door will compress the compressible material and form a seal for protecting the wet pads therein from evaporation and the dry cosmetics in the other body portion from absorbing liquid from the wet pads in the body portion holding the same.

3. A vanity case comprising a pair of oppositely disposed hollow body portions, hinge means attached to each of said body portions to permit them to swing to and from each other to open and closed positions, one of said body portions of suflicient depth to hold dry cosmetics, the

other of saidbody portions of sufficient depth to hold liquid saturated pads, a door psitioned between said body portions and hinged to the body portion for holding the wet pads, said door V therein from evaporation and the dry cosmetics in the other body portion fromabsorbing liquid from the wet pads in the body portion holding the same.
