tools or appliances being required.

Another purpose is to produce a spring mat- `tress that may be reversed'in position, shortened ,orllengthened by removal or addition of its sec-n tions, and which is yielding and` comfortable in use.

` These meritorious objects are accomplished by a gg the novel and practical construction and arrangement of parts hereinafterdescribed andillustrated in the accompanying drawing, constituting an essential component of this disclosure and in which:

In ordinary domestic establishments, hotels,

35 and rooming houses, it is frequently necessary to move a bed fromone room to another, and as it is not usually possible to pass a complete bed through an ordinary door, recourse must be had to taking the bed apart, carrying the head 40 and foot elements individually, and the common springs, including its rigid, full length frame, by`

two or more persons as best they can.

The prime` object therefore of the present invention is to provide a sectional spring mattress 5 easily moved by one person by separation of its m several sections. y

In the annexed drawing the mattress is shown as consisting of three sections A-B-C`, although obviously a greater or lesser number to may be used. i

The length ofthe bars lli-i9 determines the 5 length of the sections, as will be apparent,` and these bars may be further reenforced by other spacers 2l intermediate their lengths.

The intermediate section B consists of rectangular endframes composed of horizontal bars lo 22 connected at their ends by vertical spacers 23 and intermediate spacers 24, the latter having cross connecting rods 2i midway their height.

The spacers Zlland 23 are held in assembled relation by clamps disposed midway their height, l5 eachclamp consisting of a sleeve 25 surrounding either of the spacers and carrying an eccen-o trically mounted pivot pin 2B.`

Journaled on the extending ends oi the pin` is the inreaching hub portions 2l of a ink 28 20 terminating in a hook 29 adapted toengage par-` tially around the adjacent spacer in such manner that whenthe sleeve 25 is partially rotated, by its handle, 3U, the spacers are drawn towards oneanother and rigidly held by the clamp. 25

However, one of the slats at adjacent 'Sections has openings 38 accessible for the hookedends` 35 39 of the adjacent springs `3'! by reason of recesses t0, thus providing means for the connection or disassociation of adjacent` sections, as best seen in Figure 2. f

`Although the foregoing is generally descriptive of the best known embodiment of the invention,

minorchanges are permissible within the scope of the appended claims.

Having thus described the invention and set forth the manner of its construction and use,

`what is claimed as new and sought to` secure by Letters Patent is:

` 1. A spring mattress comprising a plurality of narrow transverse sections each section having a rectangular frame including upright corner members, a series` of cross slats in each section,

coiled tension springs interconnected between said slats and frame, and` clamps having hooks for clamping the upright members of adjacent sections to constitute an entity, a

2.`A reversible spring mattress comprising pairs of end frames, an intermediate frame, all of said frames elongated rectangles disposed transversely of the mattress, and having spacers between their upper and lower members, said end frames having connecting bars at their outer extremities, a plurality of slats extending transversely the mattress'between said frames at both sides thereof, coiled tension springs supporting- 1y connecting said slats and frames, other springs connecting adjacent slats, means carried by the adjacent corner spacers of said end frames to clamp the corresponding spacers of the intermediate frame, and springs on the innermost slats of said end frames to removably engage the adjacent slats ofsaid intermediate frame.
