This invention appertains to new and useful improvements in mounts for typewriters and more particularly to a built-in mount for desks.

A principal object of the present invention is to provide a typewriter mount for desks which in construction will simulate an ordinary drawer of the desk.

Another important object of the invention is to provide a mount for typewriters which will utilize a compartment of a desk for concealment in a drawer-like structure.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent to the reader of thefollowing specification.

Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen that numeral 5 generally refers to a desk of which construction the top is denoted by numeral 6 and the frame by numeral I. The frame is so constructed as to afford a tier of drawers. Elach drawer opening has the slide runners 8 and 9 disposed above and below the drawer.

In carrying out the present invention a drawer-like structure generally referred to by numeral I0 is employed. This structure consists of the bottom II, the front wall I2 and one side wall I3. The front wall I2 is somewhat higher than the side wall I3, but of substantially the same height as the rear wall l4.

Into the upper edge of the side wall I3 is driven the eye member I5 and from this eye member I5 is disposed the vrod I6 which has its outer end disposed into the front wall I2 and preferably passing through another eye member I1 driven into the upper edge of the wall I3.

Numeral I8 represents the swingable platform for the typewriter I9 and this has a pair of depending eye members 20-40 adjacent one edge portion thereof, which are slidably disposed on the rod I6.

It can be seen, as shown in Figure 4, that when the platform 8 is slid inwardly to a position avoiding the front wall I2, it can be swung downwardly so that the typewriter is disposed entirely into the drawer-like structure It), and when this has been done the drawer-like structure can be shoved inwardly with the result that the typewriter is not only disposed out of the way but 5 entirely concealed.

When the platform I8 is to be used, the drawer-like structure I0 is moved outwardly, after which the platform i8 is swung upwardly to the position shown in Figure 1, and moved outwardly 10 so that it rests on the upper edge of the wall 12.

The wall IQ has a cleat 22 secured to the upper edge portion thereof, and embedded in the top surfaces of the wall M and cleat 22 are the sockets 23 containing the rotatably mounted 15 rollers 24 which ride against the upper guide runners 8. Like anti-frictional means is provided between the bottom of the drawer-like structure It and the lower guide runners 9.

It will be observed that in the drawings the go typewriter drawer and mount are shown in the right pedestal of the desk. This is desirable when the user writes with his left hand. In the event the user of the typewriter is right handed it will be more desirable to have the drawer and 25 typewriter mount in the left pedestal of the desk.

While the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may be resorted to without departing 0 from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.

Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

1. In combination with a desk, a drawer having a front wall and one side wall, a guide rod on the side wall, a typewriter supporting platform, means slidably connecting the platform and the guide rod, said platform being adapted to be swung downwardly into the drawer, or upwardly m and slid outwardly to partly rest on the front wall of the drawer.

2. In combination with a desk drawer, a typewriter supporting platform; said drawer having a side wall and a'front wall, said front wall rising higher than the upper edge of the side wall, a guide rail disposed in parallel relation to the upper edge of the side wall and being secured thereto, said platform being provided with depending eye members receiving the guide rail and being slidable and rotatable thereon, said platform being swingable into the drawer into a position substantially parallel to said side wall where it is out of use and being swingable upwardly and slidable forwardly to a horizontal position for use in which it rests upon said front wall.
