A further object of the .invention is to provide, 1 in a manner as hereinafter set fortha-nonrefillable attachment of the valve controlled type for securin in theneck of the bottle and with the attachment being so constructed as to prevent the tampering of the valve thereof to anextent to permit of the bottle to be surreptitiously filled.
Further objects 'ofthe invention are to .provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, an attachment for the. purpose referred .to which is simple in its construction, strong,.durable, compact, readily installed with. respect to the neck of a bottle, thoroughly efiicient'inits use, and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture.

The element ,4 comp-rises a cylindrical body part 9 open at each end and is formed at itsinner end with an inwardly extending annular flange Ill. The latter extends inwardly at right angles to the inner end-of body part 9 and has its inner edge beveled to provide a valve seat H for the valve 1 and in this connection attention is directed to Figure 2. The inner face of the body part 9 has formed integral therewith and lengthwise thereof a series of .equi-spaced valve guides I2 which are also integral at their inner ends with g the upper face of the flange l0. The'guides I2 are of V-shaped contour in top plan and" have their apices l3 disposed inwardly adjacent'to the valve seat It. The guides l2 are of equal length and width, but of a length less than the length and have their upper ends' l4 positioned below the upper end of the body part 9. The ends ll of guides 12 align and provide seats for the guard element 6 and in this connection attention is dilation to the outer periphery of the said remain-- ing portion of body part 9. The top edge I6 of portion I5 is squared and the outer edge I! of portion I5-inclines inwardly from the outer end of said edge IE to the point'of mergence'of portion l5 with the said remaining' portion of body part 9. The portion I5 constitutes a keeper for a purpose to be referred to and'gradually increases in width from its upper to its'lower end.
The element 5 comprises a body part I8 in the form of a fiat annulus and an annular rim= l9 integral with the outer marginal portion of the lower face of body part I8.v The transverse cross sectional length of body part I8 is greater'than' the transverse cross sectional length of rim l9. The latter isof greater thick'- ness 'thanbody part! and has its inner side edge 20 spaced outwardly from the innersi'de' edge 2| of body part I8. The latter has its outer The iii"
side edge 22 flush with the outer side edge 23 of rim I9. The inner side'edge 20 of rim I9inclines ually increases in thickness from its upper to its lower end. The inclination of edge 20 is-opposite with respect to the inclination of the edge I! of portion I5 of body part 9. The ele- -ment 5 isformed with'a series of spaced equi-' distant vertical slits 24 which extend "down through the outer portion of body part I8 and entirely through the rim IS. The material freed by the slits 24 form element 5 with a series or a circular row of resilient latching members for coaction with the keeper formed by the rim 19. The element 5 is positioned on the top of and it is latched to the element 4 by the coaction of the members 25 with the inclined edge 1']. element 5 is snapped over the portion I5 of element 4 and the coaction of the edges I! and 20 a secure elements 4 and 5 together. The body part l8 extends inwardly from the edge I B of body part 9 when elements 4 and 5 are secured together. The opening formed in bodypart 18, due to the fact that the latter is in the form of an annulus constitutes the outlet for the contents of the bottle with which the attachment is connected.
The element 6 comprises a flat circular disclike body part 26 of materially less diameter than the inner diameter of element 4 and which constitutes a guard. Extended from the edge of body part 26 is a series of radially disposed equidistant spaced combined supporting and retaining members 2'! of angular form corresponding in number to the number of the valve guides l2. The members 21 are of like form and .each consists of a horizontal leg 28 and a vertical leg 29 merging at its lower end into the outer end of 2 the leg 28. The latter provides a supporter suspension for body part 26. The leg 29 constitutes a retainer for body part 26. The legs 28 are mounted on the upper .endsl4 of the guides 12. The legs 29 bear against the inner face of body part 9 of element 4 and the lower face of body part I8 of element 5. When the latter is secured to element 4 it prevents the shifting of the element 6 lengthwise with respect to element 4 and fixedly secures, in connection with the guides l2 element 6 inclement 4. The spaces between the members 21 formed outlet passages or channels for the contents of the bottle with which the attachment is secured to, when the bottle is tilted for the purpose of removing the valve 1 from off 1 of its seat provided by the inner edge ll of the flange Ill. The diameter of the valve 7 with respect to its seat is such as to prevent the valve from passing inwardly from the attachment through the valve seat.
The element 8 comprising a sleeve or collar of compressible material, open at each end having its inner diameter uniform and its outer diameter gradually increasing from each of its ends to its diametric center. The sleeve 30 is of less length than element 4 and is disposed in tightly encompassingrelation with respect to the outer face of body part 9 of said element 4 from the lower end of rim of element 5 to the lower end of element 4.
The attachment will require but one additional operation in bottling and which is the positioning of the attachment within the throat of the bottle neck at a point spaced a substantial distance below the bottle mouth. After the attachment has been positioned as aforesaid the cork or screw cap is placed as usual.
The outer diameter of the element 8 is such with respect to the diameter of the bottle throat to provide for element 8 being compressed when the attachment is disposed within the bottle neck. The element 8 thereby provides a snug fit for the attachment relative to the bottle throat and fixedly secures the attachment stationary,
under normal conditions relative to the bottle neck. The throat of the bottle should. taper to a smaller diameter to. prevent the attachment from The.
being pushed down into the body of the bottle. The element 8 provides a liquid seal therebetween and the throat of the bottle.
The latching members 25, after the assembly has oncebeeninserted in the bottleneck prevent the removal thereof, as if an attempt is made to remove the assembly any outward pull on element 5 will spread said members 25 causing the rim of element 5 to spread and wedge tightly against theinner face of the bottle neck thereby locking the assembly to arrest removal thereof.
The edges l1 and 20 are oppositely bevelled at ninety degrees.
What I claim is:
1. A'nonrefillable attachment for bottles and for positioning in the tapered neck of a bottle, said attachment comprising a combined valve seat, guide means and container forming element of cylindrical form having means on its outer face to constitute a keeper at its upper end formed with an inwardly beveled outer surface, a
shiftable valve retained in and by said element, a combined guard and outlet passages forming means mounted in and supported by said element at said end of the latter, a combined cap, latch; outlet and spreader forming element in the form of an annulus bearing on said means and provided with an annular row of separate extendible latching members having complemental inner surfaces coacting with the beveled surface of said keeper for securing said elements together. and for coaction with the wall of the bottle neck to prevent the outward removal of the attachmenuand a compressible combined securing and sealing means of cylindrical form encompassing said first mentioned element and-coacting with the wall of the bottle neck to provide a liquid seal and to Wedgingly' secure. the attachment stationary within the neck of the bottle.
2. A nonrefillable attachment for bottles and for positioning in the tapered neck of a bottle, said attachment comprising acombined valve seat, guide means and container forming element of cylindricalform having means on its outer face. to constitute a keeper at its upper end formed with. an inwardly beveled outer surface, a shiftable :valve retained in and by said element, a combined guard and outlet passages forming meansmounted in and supported by said element at said end of the latter, a combined cap, latch, outlet and spreader forming element in the form of an annulus bearing on said means and provided with an annular row of separate extendible latching members having complemental inner surfaces coacting with the beveled surface of said keeper for securing said elements together and for coaction with the wall. of the bottle neck to prevent the outward removalof the attachment, a compressible combined securing and sealing means of cylindrical form encompassing said first mentioned element and coacting with the wall of the bottle neck to provide a liquid seal and to wedgingly secure the attachment stationary within'the neckof the bottle, said first mentioned element being formed therein and lengthwise thereof with spaced valve guides and said guardi means including spaced combined supports and retainers seated on said guides atone end of the latter and bearing against thesecond mentioned element.
3. A nonrefillable attachment for bottles and for positioning in the tapered neck of a bottle, said attachment comprising a combined valve seat; guide means and container forming element of. cylindricalrform having means on its outer face to constitute a keeper at its upper end formed with an inwardly beveled outer surface, a shiftable valve retained in and by said element, a combined guard and outlet passages forming means mounted in and supported by said element at said end of the latter, a combined cap, latch,
outlet and spreader forming element in the form of an annulus bearing on said means and provided with an annular row of separate extendible latching members having complemental inner surfaces coacting with the beveled surface of said keeper for securing said elements together and for coaction with the wall of the bottle neck to prevent the outward removal of the attachment, a compressible combined securing and sealing means of cylindrical form encompassing said seat, guide means and container forming element of cylindrical form having means on its outer face to constitute 'a keeper at its upper end formed with an inwardly beveled outer surface, a shiftable valve retained in and by said element, a combined guard and outlet passages forming means mounted in and supported by said element at said end of the latter, a combined cap, latch, outlet and spreader forming element in the form of an annulus bearing on said means and provided with an annular row of separate extendible latching members having complemental inner surfaces coacting with the beveled surface of said keeper for securing said elements together and for coaction with the wall of the bottle neck to prevent the outward removal of the attachment,

a combined guard and outlet passages forming means mounted in and supported by said element at said end of the latter, a combined cap, latch, outlet and spreader forming element in the form of an annulus bearing on said means and provided with an annular. row of separate extendible latching members having complemental inner surfaces coacting with the beveled surface of said keeper for securing said elements together and for coaction with the wall of the bottle neck to prevent the outward removal of the attachment, a compressible combined securing and sealing means of cylindrical form encompassing said first mentioned element and coacting with the wall of the bottleneck to provide a liquid seal and to wedgingly secure the attachment stationary within the neck of the bottle, said first mentioned element being formed at one end with aseat for said valve and therein lengthwise thereof with spaced guides of less length than the length of such element, said guides bearing at one end against the lower face of the said combined guide and outlet passages forming means, said guides being of V-form and having their apices disposed '7.
