Referring to the drawing,,and more particularly Figures 1 to i, a smokers pipe is illustrated, comprising a bowl it, a tubular stem is and a bit on mouth piece 57. Thebit has an end portion 58 of reduced diameter which fits in the pipe stern in the usual manner.

The invention in its entirety includes a holder for a roll of paper carried by the bitor mouth piece. Although capable of various constructions, in the embodiment illustrated in. Figures 1-4 as an examplathe holder comprises a spring clip unit for grasping the edge of a piece of paper. This clip unit comprises two parallel pieces 2!), 2! of flat wire stock crimped asappears in Figures 1 and 3. At one end, the wires have oppositely disposed reverse bends 22, 23 and't'erminate in arcuate portions 26, 25. The two parts of the holder are held together by a ring ilfiiorced over arcuate ends E i, 25. So as 'sembled, the latter parts form a short tube which is inserted, with a friction fit, in the bore of the pipe bit l'l. At the forward end, the two wires 20, 2! are'turned outwardly to provide oppositely extending ends 21, 28.

The paper is preferably absorbent in nature and may be medicated if. desired. As shown, the

paper sheet is provided with aseries of perforations 3| to facilitate penetration of the smoke.

This package comprises a backing 33, one end of which is folded up over the end of. a pack of paper sheets to form a base 34. A staple is passed throughthe base, the sheets thus effects a steinand the main backing. The sheets are perforated or scored adjacent the base 33, as at 36, whereby a sheet may be readily torn off as required. The

other end ofthe backing 33 extends beyond the pack. of" sheets, as appears in Figure .110, When the package is folded upon itself, as in Figure 11, this extension is tucked under the base 34 to hold the packageclosed.

Figures 6-8 illustrates. further modification. The clip elements 44, 25 are crimped as in the construction of Figures liand have outwardly turned ends 46, 41 like ends 21, 28. At the other end, the clip elements have oppositely disposed bends, formingjshoulclers 48, 49-, and parallel portions 59, 5!; The latterterminate in half rings 52, 53 which snap into an annular groove 54 formed in'the end of mouth piece 55. The clip elements are held against separation, except for the jaw-like opening to receive the sheet of cigarette holders, the latter receiving the holder and its paper inthe manner of the tubular pipe stem. What is claimed is:

1. A holder for a smokers article comprising a pair of spring clipelements for grasping the edge of a sheet of paper and about which said paper may be rolled up, said clip elements hav ing oppositely disposed shoulders. for confining the paper roll axially.

2. A device for use in smokers articles comprising a connection portion for insertion in a tubular element of such article, and two clip-like elements for grasping the edge of a piece of paper and about which said paper may be rolled, said device having ashoulder between said connection portion and said clip-like elements.

3. A device for use in smokers articles comprising aconnection portion for insertion in a tubular element of such article, and two clip-like elements for grasping the edge of a piece of paper and about which saidIpap-er may be rolled, said device having a shoulderbetween said connection portion and said clip-like elements, and one of said clip-like elements having. a shoulder at its may be rolled, said device having a shoulder between said connection portion and said clip-like elements.
