This invention relates to deposited latex garments and is a division of applicants copending application, Serial No. 71,661, filed March 30, 1936 now Patent No. 2,100,578 granted November Prior garments of this type have been made from pieces of sheet rubber joined together by cement leaving seams in the finished product. Such seams have rendered the garment bulky and have been a frequent source of failure. Where the garment was provided with rubber'ties, the margins of the ties were reinforced by strips of rubber cemented thereto or by folding the marginon itself and cementing the overlapping parts together. The operations of cementing the reinforcing parts together have been expensive and the resulting product has frequently been unattractive. 1
The main feature of the invention, relates to a fashioned seamless, deposited latex garment.
A further feature relates to a seamless latex garment having its marginal edges reinforced by integral ridges of latex.
Another feature relates to a seamless latex garment having latex ties integral therewith.
An additional feature relates to a flat seamless latex blank which can be finished into a dress or the like.
The various features and advantages of the invention will appear from the detailed description and the claims when taken with the drawing in which Fig. 1 is a front view of a bib or apron made in accordance with the present invention; Figs, 2 and 3 are sectional views taken along the H5 lines 22 and 33 respectively of Fig. 1 and illustrating the integral marginal reinforcements; Figs. 4, 5 and 6 are fragments of this bib or apron illustrating the manner in which the integral strings or tiesare manipulated to finish .0 the garments; Fig. 7 is aplan view of a blank for making an easily fashioned latex garment or dress; Figs. 8 and 9 are fragmentary sections taken along the lines 8-8 and 9-9 respectively of Fig. 7 and illustrating particularly the integral 5 edge reinforcements; Fig. 10 is a front elevation of a finished dress made from the blank of Fig. 7.
Referring especially to Figs. 1 to 6, l5 designates an apron or bib. This apron or bib has a body portion l6, provided at its'upper part with l a neck opening I! defined by the opposing curved tabs l8. These tabs have holes 19 therein to receive suitable fastening means such as buttons or ties. At each side of the bib or apron, at the waist portion thereof, there is provided an intei gral tie string 20. It will be noted that each of these strings are deposited, extend upwardly toward the. neck portion of the bib or apron in order to reduce the necessary size of the form on which it is deposited. However, if the strings 20 were left in the condition shown in Fig 1, the bib 5 or apron might present an insufilciently attractive appearance. In order to. obviate this disadvantage, an opening M is provided in the bib or apron adjacent the junction of the string 20 with the bib or apron proper. The freeend 22 10 of the tie can be inserted through the opening 28 as best illustrated in Figs. 4 and 5, after which the free end of the tie is further drawn through the opening 2i until the loop 23 completely disappears. As a result of this operation, the tie 29 is 15 permanently held in its downwardly extending position, as best shown in Fig. 6.
All of 'the margins of the bib, tabs and tie strings are strengthened by reinforcements of rubber integral therewith as shown at 26 and 25 0 in Figs. 2 and 3.
Thebib or apron just described can be modified so that it becomes a dress 30 as illustrated in Figs. 7 and 10. This dress, which is made from a single piece or blank having the outline $5 indicated in Fig. 7, has a shape similar to a distorted cross, including parts 3i and 32 which cover the body of the wearer and two sleeveforming parts 33 and 36. At the junction of these several parts there is provided a circular 30 neck opening 35 connected by a slit 36 to one margin of the garment. Each side of each of the sleeve-forming portions 33and 3t, is provided with a pair of tie strings 3! and 38 having their free ends opposing each other. Each margin of $5 the garment at each side of the slit 36, is also provided with a pair of tie strings 39 and 40 also having their free ends opposing each other. In addition, at each side of each of the body-forming portions, there is provided a'tle string M. It 40 will be noted that adjacent the'junction of each of the tie strings with the body of the garment, there is provided an opening 42, through which the free end of the related strings can be inserted after the manner more fully disclosed in Figs. 4, 5 and 6. All of the edges'of the garment, including all of the edges of the tie strings and the margin of the latex at each opening 42, are reinforced by ridges 43 and 44 of latex integral with the latex of the garment (Figs. 8 and 9). The to blank of Fig. 10 can be fashioned into a garment as illustrated in Fig. 10 by tying certain of the strings together as will be obvious from Fig. 10. The present disclosure is given merely by way of example and it will be understood that there 2. A deposited latex garment and tie stringsintegral with the garment, said strings normally extending adjacent opposite margins of said garment the junction of the garment and each. tie
string having an opening therein, the end of each tie string being drawn through its related open- 3. A seamless, deposited latex garmentv comprising a central part having a neck opening therein and at least one body portion and two sleeve portions projecting from said part, and fastening means along the sides of said portions, said fastening means comprising tie-strings integral with said portions and normally extending adjacent the related sides thereof, substantial,
portions of the margins of said garment being reinforced by ridges of deposited latex integral therewith.
4. A seamless, deposited latex garment of gen-. erally four-leaf clover outline comprising two body portions and two sleeve portions, said garment having a neck opening therein, and fastening means along the sides of said portions, said fastening means comprising tie-strings integral with said portions and normally extending adjacent the related sides thereof, substantial portions of the margins of said garment being reinforced by ridges of deposited latex integral therewith.
5. A seamless, deposited latex garment comprising a central part having an opening therein and two body portions and two sleeve portions projecting from said part, and at least one tie-string integral with said garment attached to one side edge of one of said portions; said tie string normally. extending adjacent said side edge, the junction'of the garment and said tie string having an opening therein, the end of said tie string being drawn through said opening, substantial portions of the margin of said garment being reinforced by a ridge of deposited latex integral therewith.
6. A seamless, deposited latex garment having a reentrant neck opening therein, the margin of said garment at said neck opening being reinforced by a ridge of deposited latex integral therewith, and tie strings integral with said garment for fastening portions thereof together at said neck opening, said tie strings normally extending along the margin defining said reentrant neck opening of said garment.
7. A seamless, deposited latex garment comprising a body portion, curved tabs at one end of said body portion adapted to have their ends detachably secured together, tie strings integral with said body portion and normally extending adjacent related margins thereof, the junction of the body portion and each tie string having an opening therein, the end of each tie string being drawn throughits related opening, substantial portions of the margins of said garment being reinforced by ridges of deposited latex integral therewith.
8. A seamless, deposited latex garment of generally-four-leaf clover outline comprising two body portions and two sleeve portions, said garment'having a neck opening and a slit extending from said neck opening to the junction of the edges of a sleeve portion and a body portion, and
. tie strings integral with the margins defining said 10. A seamless, deposited latex article compris-' ing a shoulder covering portion, said portion having a neck-receiving opening, and a slit extending from said opening to an outer. margin of said portion, and tie strings integral with the margins defining said slit and opening-and attached thereto adjacent the junction of said slit and opening, said tie strings normally extending in adjacent substantial parallel relation with the margins defining said slit.
