My inventionrelates to a new and useful display device and it relates more particularly to a display device of theknock-down varietywhich canbe shipped in quantities in a -at condition to be erected or'set up at the place of use.

My invention further relates to; a display device which lends itself equally to a counter or shelf display as well as to window-or outside displays and one which, while made of ordinary `card-boardand of an extremelyv simple construction, is nevertheless so designed as tor be capable of supporting relatively great Weight;

My invention still furtherrelates to a display of this character which, in addition to the foregoing features, also lis of lal very attractive appearance and affords ample room for advertising matter relating to the object displayed.

Referring to the drawings in which like reference characters represent like parts, I designates a vertical body portion which is provided with any desiredartistic contour 2 and on the front face of which any desired advertising matter (not shown) may be inscribed. rIo the back of the body portion I is adhesively secured a hinged easel 3 which may lie flat against the body portion I as shown in Fig. 4 or which may be extended at an angle thereto to form a support as shown in Fig. 3. Associated with the body portion I is a platform construction comprising the lower end platforms 5 and 6 and the intermediate elevated platform 1 on which electric storage batteries 8 or other devices to be displayed are positioned. The platforms 5, 6 and 1 are formed from an initially integral blank comprising the back wall 9, the top wall IU and the front wall II, the top wall I0 being (Cl. E11- 135) creased Vlongitudinally to permit collapse of the platforms against thebOdypOrtiOn' I, as best` seen in Fig. 4. In order to reinforce the construction and to enable it to sup- 20 port the relatively heavy weight of electric storage batteries or the like, I provide the legs I8 which are suitably secured to the front and back Walls 9 and II of the platform construction and which are centrally scored to permit them to col- 25 lapse as shown in Fig. 4, it being understood that the end legs collapse in the direction of the arrow 2I (Fig. 2), while the intermediate legs collapse' in the opposite directions of the arrows 22. When the device is shipped, it is in the knock-down 30 position with the tabs I3 and I6 in registration with andengaging the cut-outs I'I in the locking position shown in Figs. 5 and 6. In order to erect the device it is merely necessary to exert downward pressure on any one of the platforms 35 5, 6 and I which will automatically spread all three platforms from the folded or collapsed position shown in Fig. 4 to the operative position shown in Fig. 3. The tops I0 of the platforms 5, 6 and 'I are provided with the tabs 23 which 40 are cut-out therefrom as at 24, said tabs serving to carry specific information relating to the particular object on the particular platform and further enhancing the attractiveness of the device.

In Figs. 8 to 11 I have shown a modified form of 45 construction in which I have the end platforms 5 and 6 and the central elevated platforms 1, except that in addition thereto I have a fourth platform 26 which is below and projects into a plane beyond the vertical plane of the front wall 50 of the central platform 'I. The additional platform 26, as will be best seen from Figs. 9, 10 and 11, is formed from a continuation or extension of the front wall II of the middle platform 'I which extends horizontally to form the top wall |01: and 55 the front wall IIa.` of the additional platform 26. In order to accomplish this the end platforms 5 and 6 instead of being integral with the central platform l, as in Figs. 1 to 7, are, in this modified form, severed therefrom as at 21, and the legs I8 supporting the central platform 'I are extended to reach all the Way to the oor or other support. A pair of legs l8r, similar in construction to the legs I8, are provided to support the additional platform 26. The legs I8 and l8r, shown in Fig.

9, are identical except that the legs I8 supporting the central platform are located more centrally of said platform 26 instead of near the edges thereof as shown in Fig. 2.

Having thus described my invention what I' claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A display device comprising a vertical body 'body portion, said platform construction comprising a plurality of platforms in different vertical and horizontal planes.

3. A display device comprising a substantially upright member and a substantially horizontal platform construction, said platformk construction comprising a plurality of platform constructions, each of said platform constructions being formed of an integral blank forming a relatively high platform, the upper portion of the wall of said platform construction being severed from the rest of the blank and shortened to form a. plurality of relatively low platforms.

4. A display device comprising a collapsible platform construction, said platform construction comprising a plurality of platform constructions, each of said platform constructions being formed of an integral blank forming a collapsible relatively high platform, the upper portion of the wall of said platform construction being severed from l 5. A display device comprising an upright member, a plurality of separate platform constructions each formed of an integral piece comprising a horizontal top and vertical r-ear and front Walls and secured at its rear wall to one side of said upright member, one of said platforms having the front wall thereof extended to form a second platform in different -Y vertical .and horizontal planes therefrom, and collapsible legs secured to the-front and rear walls of said platform constructions forrsupporting said platforms.

6. A display device comprising an upright member, a plurality of platforms on different planes secured to a face of said upright member, one of said platforms having a wall thereof extended to form an auxiliary platform in vertical andhorizontal planes different from the planes of said rst mentioned platforms.
