cost and is so constructed as to provide a removable outer covering which when soiled may be removed and laundered with ease and at a noml5- inal cost.
With these and other objects in View, this invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 isa view illustrating an apron applied to a person and constructed in accordance with my invention.
Figure 2 is a plan view partly in section illustrating the apron.
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 33 of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a plan view illustrating a heat resisting strip to be employed in the collar of the apron.
Figure 5 is a plan view of a strip used in making a cover for the heat resisting strip shown in Figure 4.
Figure 6 is a plan view illustrating the heat resisting strip with the cover applied thereto.
Figure '7 is a sectional view taken on the line l-al of Figure 6.
Figure 8 is a plan view illustrating the collar of the apron with the heat resisting strip located therein.
Referring in detail to the drawings, the numeral I indicates in entirety an apron to be used in beauty parlors or like establishments for protecting a person from heat while the hair is being waved or otherwise treated by heat or when cosmetics are applied to the persons face to prevent such cosmetics from contacting and soiling the garment Worn by the person. The apron includes shoulder portions A, a neck portion B, a front portion C and a back portion D. The back portion D is slit from its free edge to the neck portion B so that the apron may be easily applied and removed from a person. The slit extends into the neck portion rendering the latter open so that a persons neck can easily pass into the neck portion by way of the slit in the back portion D. The apron when applied. to a person covers the shoulders, tightly encircles the neck and extends downwardly over the front and back of a person to a point below the waistline, as shown in Figure 1. The shoulder portions A project well beyond the shoulders of the person. The apron thus constructed affords maximum protection to the garment of the person preventing the latter from soiling and also will prevent hair from passing down about the neck and into the persons garment as when having the hair trimmed or cut.
The apron- I further consists of an outer cover 2 made in envelope formation consisting of spaced walls stitched together along certain edges thereof while certain edges are nonstitched providing an opening 4 in the cover. Separable fasteners 5 are provided for closing the opening 4. The cover 2 is constructed of a suitable fabric which may be easily laundered and which will present a pleasing appearance.
A sheet of heat resisting material 6 is shaped in accordance with the shape of the apron and has a fabric covering 1. The heat resisting material 6 with its covering 1 is placed within the cover 2 of the apron by way of the opening 4, thereby rendering the apron heat resisting and when it is desired to launder the apron or the cover 2 thereof, the heat resisting sheet 6 and its covering 1 is removed.
Secured to the neck portion B of the apron is a collar 8. The sheet 6 and its covering 1 are detachably secured to the neck portion of the cover by separable fasteners 9 to prevent the sheet 6 from sagging away from the neck of the wearer or otherwise becoming disarranged in the cover. Forming a part of the collar 8 are neck encircling and. tying straps H]. The neck encircling and tying straps lll are joined to the ends of the collar and the collar adjacent one end has a slot l I through which one of the neck encircling and tying straps may be passed and the straps are then brought about the collar and tied in the front of the person, as shown in Figure 1. The straps I 0 thus applied permit the collar 8 to be drawn tightly about the neck of a person to prevent air from entering in the collar in the neck. The collar 8 and straps H] are constructed of any suitable fabric and the collar 8 has located therein a heat resisting strip l2. A suitable fabric covering i3 is placed over the strip l2 prior to placing the latter in the collar 8. The fabric covering I3 is in strip formation, as shown in Figure 5 and placed over the heat resisting strip l2 and stitched as indicated by the dotted lines in Figure 6 to completely encase the heat resisting strip l2. The strip l2 and its covering I3 is then placed in the collar and stitched thereto. It is to be understood that the collar is of double wall formation so that the heat resisting strip 12 and its covering l3 can be placed therein.
An apron of the character described and shown in the drawings will afiord a maximum protection to the wearer and will be heat resisting and the cover constituting a part of the apron can have the heat resisting sheet removed therefrom so that said cover may be laundered easily and quickly and at a nominal cost.
Having described the invention, I claim:
1. An apron comprising a cover of envelope formation and having a slit along one edge thereof and including shoulder portions, a neck portion and front and back portions, a heat resisting strip shaped in accordance with the cover and positioned therein by way of said slit, separable fasteners for closing the slit of the cover, and a covering encasing the heat resisting strip.
2. An apron comprising a cover of envelope formation and having a slit along one edge thereof and including shoulder portions, a neck portion and front and back portions, a heat resisting strip shaped in accordance with the cover and positioned therein by way of said slit, separable fasteners for closing the slit of the cover, a covering encasing the heat resisting strip, and a collar secured to the neck portion and including neck encircling and tying straps and having a slot adjacent one end through which one of the straps may be passed to draw the collar tightly about a persons neck.
3. An apron comprising a cover of envelope formation and having a slit along one edge thereof and including shoulder portions, a neck portion and front and back portions, a reat resisting strip shaped in accordance with the cover and positioned therein by way of said slit, separable fasteners for closing the slit of the cover, a covering encasing the heat resisting strip, a collar secured to the neck portion and including neck encircling and tying straps and having a slot adjacent one end through which one of the straps may be passed to draw the collar tightly about a persons neck, and a heat resisting strip located in said collar.
4. An apron comprising a cover of envelope formation and having a slit along one edge thereof and including shoulder portions, a neck portion and front and back portions, a heat resisting strip shaped in accordance with the cover and positioned therein by Way of said slit, separable fasteners for closing the slit of the cover, a covering encasing the heat resisting strip, a collar secured to the neck portion and including neck encircling and tying straps and having a slot adjacent one end through which one of the straps may be passed to draw the collar tightly about a persons neck, a heat resisting strip located in said collar, and a covering for the last-named heat resisting strip and being stitched onto the collar.
5. An apron comprising a cover of envelope formation and having a slit along one edge thereof and including shoulder portions, a neck portion and front and back portions, a heat resisting strip shaped in accordance with the cover and positioned therein by way of said slit, and separable fasteners for closing the slit of the cover.
