BEACH CAPE.
Application filed August 11, 1925.
T his invention relates to a new and useful improvement in hooded capes and more particularly to that class known as beach capes.
An object of this invention is the provision of a cape made of suitable waterproof material of the lightest and thinnest substance obtainable embodying a toughness of structure sufficient to withstand the usual strain to which such a cape would be subject Another object of this invention is the provisionof a beach cape which may be worn from the bath house or cottage to the water, and which will be of suflicient length to cover the wearer from head to foot and thus protect her from the torture of sun burn.
A further object of this invention is the provision of a beach cape which may be carried by the wearer, on her person, into the water, thus eliminating the unnecessary delay caused by hiding, checking, or trusting to some ones care, the cape, before entering the water.
A still further object of this invention is the provision of a beach cape which can be worn to the water, then removed, rolled up and concealed within the hood, of said cape, upon the wearers head and still not spoil the beauty of the headgear.
WVith the above and other objects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formation, combinations and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated by the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a side elevation of my im proved beach cape,
Figure 2 is a front elevation thereof,
Figure 3 is an enlarged sectional view through the headgear and cape, illustrating the cape portion folded within the headgear, and,
Figure 4c is a plain view of the blank formation of my improved cape.
Referring to the accompanying drawings by similar characters of reference throughout numeral 1 indicates the body portion of my improved cape which may be of any desired cut and to the upper edge of which integral therewith is a hood portion 2 rein- Serial No. 49,550.
forced by a suitable neck band 3 provided with a suitable fastening means 4 by which said band may be. fastened snugly around the neck of the wearer.
The body portion 1 is provided at its opposite upper corners with suitable fastening members 5 which permit the fastening togrether of said corners which will meet at the back of the wearers neck when said cape or body portion 1 is wrapped about the wearer's body. thus producing a beach cape that will completely envelop the wearers figure from head to foot, thus protecting said wearer from the penetrating rays of the sun which produce sunburn.
It is now thought that the above description together with the accompanying drawing sufficiently sets forth the construction and method of use in connection with this cape to give those familiar with this art a clear idea as to the construction and wearing of the same.
It should be understood, however, in this connection that various minor changes in the details of construction may be resorted to within the scope of the appended claim, 95 without departing from or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention;
From the foregoing disclosure, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, it will be manifest that I have provided a 100 beach cape which will fulfill all of the necessary requirements of such a garment and which may be adapted for use whererer the being adapted to be folded within said hood services of such a cape may be required. reinforcing); members passing around said Having thus fully described this inven hood, and menns secured to one of said re- 10 tion, What I claim, and desire to protect by inforcing members for enveloping said body Letters Patent, is: portion of said cape when folded Within the A beach cape embodying a body portion hood. a hood integral therewith, said body portion ETHEL FRANCES GRAHAM.
