ATTORNEY Patented a. 26, 1931 I j o 2,095 321 UNITED/STATES PATENT+--0FFICE" f Frank Simon, Brooklyn, N. Y. pplication February 24, 1937, Serial No. 127,363
8 Claims. (Cl. 223-88) This invention relates to a garment hanger l5, which slidably fits in the groove l4. Each of which is designed and adapted to be used to supthe ends I2 has a slot l6 therein paralleling the port coat type of garments of all kinds, although groove or the tongue as the case may be, and the provision is made for hanging or supporting slot IS in one end l2 registers with the slot I6 I other articles of wear in addition. in the other end 12, when said ends are brought 5' More particularly, the invention relates to a together with the tongue l5 disposed in the groove garment hanger of the indicated character, M. The tongue and groove retain the arms Ill which is adjustable to suit garments of various and Il in a downwardly diverging relationship sizes, especially with reference to sizes of coats at all times. Use is made of a bolt ll with the 10 at the neck and shoulder portions thereof. usual head on one end, and the other end is 10 The principal object of the invention is the threaded for a wing nut ill or the like. The .provision of a garment hanger which is adjustable bolt I1 is extended through the registered slots to suit coat type of garments of various sizes, l6, after which the nut I8 is threaded on the bolt the adjustment of the hanger being accomplished IT, to retain the arms In and H in the-desired in such manner that the general shape and the adjusted relation, for the purpose of increasing 15 height thereof will not be altered, thereby keepor decreasing the size of the hanger. This ing, it will be apparent that the hanger of the provision is made to prevent the unintentional present invention includes a pair of companion separation of the arms Ill and II. The rod 19 supporting arms or members 10 and II. The also serves to support other articles, such as 45 inner end of each of the arms is enlarged and trousers for instance. said end is designated l2. The outer end l3 of A hook 23 connected with the bolt l'l serves for each of said arms is also somewhat enlarged. suspending the hanger from a rod. The hook 23 Each of the ends I2 is of reduced thickness so has a key-hole slot 24 in an enlargement to acthat when both ends l2 are brought together side commodate a nail or the like to suspend the 50 by side, the combined thickness thereof will aphanger. The bill of the hook projects straight proximate the thickness of the arms beyond the down. With a hook of the character shown, the reduced portions. The inner end I2 of the arm hanger whether suspended from a rod or nail ID has a straight groove I4 therein, and the inwill not be accidently displaced therefrom. The ner end l2 of the arm II has a straight tongue unthreaded portion of the bolt I1 is square in cross section to prevent the same from turning, thereby always retaining the hook 23 upright, it being understood that the lower end of the hook has a square hole therein to receive the bolt to prevent the hook from turning with respect to the bolt. By removing the bolt, the hook may be disposed in a downwardly swung position, so that the hanger will occupy a minimum of space while being carried in a suit-case, and so that large quantities of the hangers will occupy a minimum of space in being stored or shipped.
It is to be understood that the invention is not restricted to the precise construction appearing in the drawing, but that details thereof may be modified and rearranged without departing from the spirit of the invention as expressed in the claims.
I claim:
