Description

G4 LESTER.

No. 207,749. Patented Sept. 3, 1878.

whim UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES LESTER, OF NEWV ORLEANS, LOUISIANA.
IMPROVEMENT IN BALE-TIES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 207,749, dated September 3, 1878 application filed January 31, 1878.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES LESTER, of New Orleans, parish of Orleans, and State of Louisiana, have invented a Bale-Tie, of which the following is a specification:
The invention consists in doubling a tie or band, bringing the two ends together, and forming a bight in the middle of its length, when, by passing the ends or the bight around the bale, the band may be fastened by passing the ends through the bight and drawing close in the usual manner, the drawing of the band tending to further secure the ends by the closing of the bight on the parts.
My invention is further described by the drawings, where Figure 1 shows a band ready for use, and Figs. 2 and 3 different views of band when turned and tied. Fig. 4 shows a section, enlarged, of the double part, seemingly the most desirable form for general use.
What Ielaim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A'band doubled on itself, forming a bend or bight for the insertion of the ends, substantially as described.
New Orleans, January 9, 1878.
OHS. LESTER.
